I'm Jacob Arial bold for drive [Music] 40:20 BMW set for m4 TI with launch control predictable and off we go okay so it is quite fast but it's graceful it's not violent we're not control exactly like it didn't push you back in your seat too much kind of just it builds it progressively got it felt unnecessary yeah that's what I mean okay so let's get into a horsepower and torque 382 horsepower and 369 pound-feet of torque from a three liter inline six turbo and that zero to one hundred kilometer
an hour time is rated at 4.5 seconds but I have a feeling it does that a little quicker and by the way if you're already watching this video just hit the subscribe button we know the stats we know a lot of you guys who watch aren't subscribe hit the notification bell - so the dead four used to exist but now it's back again yes of the Zed 4 let's address the Zed in the room ok we're Canadian so it's Zed for naught Z for anytime someone says Z 4 I'm like talking about c4 Corvettes and how did they
say this in England Yuri yeah I know everything changes I get it they say Zed they say Zed four inches gallons Z Germany Zed Zed for America Z whatever whatever we love you Americans we just have to point that out since y'all are gonna point it out on us I would like to start this off by talking about the exhaust so it only crackles and pops in sport and hell does it crackle and pop all the damn time it's mostly verbally it is burbling and it's so predictable and I don't like the tone it's all
the time and it's just so predictable you think every time you'd let on yeah so watch this I'm gonna floor it let off and watch this from up up up up up up up rub rub rub rub rub rub rub rub rub it's the same it kind of gets old and you can't turn off the exhaust you can't be in sport engine without having the exhaust open like that yeah you pretty much have to drive this in comfort mode if you don't want the crackles I think you just add backfires but you sti ll want to drive sporty so it's kind
of it sucks not the worst crackles but it's also not the best no exactly but what is good is the tone of the exhaust when you're flooring it so I'm gonna floor right now buttery smooth that inline-6 just sounds so good it does sound nice it's really really nice like the tone of it love it so if we're gonna compare how fast this is when you floor it it's pretty damn fast you're all flooring it's pretty fast what would you compare that to fast wise t his is almost as fast as the eight series the
non M that we drove really it feels almost as fast because this is a smaller car the 0 to 100 time is not accurate but the feeling and sensation that I get is around that however it doesn't continue pulling like the M 850 I did so how about this compared to the Boxster GTS we drove last year compared to the GTS it's honestly a toss-up because that hadn't around 350 horsepower compared to the s this would dummy it ok so it's around that level yes the Boxster would be its number one competition
for sure and unlike the Boxster this only comes in automatic yes it does and there is no kind of Cayman version of it either you can't get this as a hardtop just convertible yeah ok cool well let's talk more about this drivetrain ZF 8-speed auto shifts or buttery smooth super fast but aren't you like a little disappointed with the paddles after driving that Alfa Romeo with the paddles yes well we've always we've always said that about BMW paddles like it's just such a letdown after driving other
cars let's talk about my major letdowns I bought 3 of them for this car hit me with it we've already talked about the exhaust so that's one number two the gauges okay these gauges are all right in the non-sporting new gen BMW is like the X's or whatever but this is an m4 TI and like well you're supposed to get used to the chat going backwards on the wrong side and the numbers are really small too shifting a small like and it's red on red with white on white it's so hard to tell what RPM you're
at it's so small I wish it was right in the center like we just found out that the new m8 will be yeah it was in the new m8 commercial I saw on YouTube like change that add an option so you can get the center speed attack in the middle like I'm sure if they make this into an M model they finally get it so then wait are they gonna bring the clown shoe back then essentially sort of I don't know I just w ant the gauges changed so do I like why do they prioritize putting BMW maps in the middle I'm
not gonna use anything that's not Google Maps and like I don't care about a map in the middle exactly moving on to my third complaint the steering feel okay it is so weird it is kind of like the m240 I which we both did not enjoy the steering field does that come runa for you or not really it doesn't ruin it but it's just I expected a little bit more it ruins it for me I wouldn't want it w ith that yeah okay now time to send in the cliche corner and prove all of these faults and good things send
all that traction control is so good it does oversteer and it feels very neutral and handling not much body roll at all and it's just a rocket when you floor it compared to the m2 competition I would still take that that just feels better in every single way yeah just if it's more fun it's got more power it sounds better arguably but for a top-down experience they did a pretty good job they did a very good job yeah yeah because I think this is more of an old person car this is definitely
geared for older people like enjoying your roads there on your Sunday cruise with your retirement money and the price kind of dictates that as well because this is kind of expensive for a two-seater convertible roadster and the driving position is great and if you like BMWs you're gonna love this steering wheel because it's super fat and chunky but this does have a variable steering ratio so that's where that weirdness comes in so you can adjust it through the drive mode so you can put this in
comfort and then it lightens up so we have a bunch of different drive modes we've got Sport Comfort Sport Plus sport individual eco pro all that stuff typical of every BMW and we have the adaptive M Sport Suspension and I've had no reason to put this in to comfort it is very comfortable in Sport Plus just for the exhaust crackles yak pretty much so the e xhaust crackles I can make them crackle all the time by just tapping the throttle as we showed you in the f-type SVR video but the SVR actually
sounded really good when you practically this is just like far far far far far this is more liveable like the SVR is like so obnoxious so it is which is why I love it but this isn't really geared towards people like you know it's not feel like you would get the m2 competition in a manual transmission yeah or the SVR for convertible because th at exists and this does tend to break traction fairly easily you also notice that as well yeah even with traction on if you floor it the backend goes
slightly to the right you have to steer to the right all the time yeah and if you put the traction it's a sport mode without turning it off it lets you get just enough sideways yeah but it'd be fun to turn all the way off on track like this thing could probably do break stance no problem with traction off probably not that I ever tried to find out no heavens no we wouldn't do that and all that handling obviously comes because this also has a 50/50 weight distribution so they tried to get this as
perfect as they can get it for a roadster so with all the super fun driving stuff out of the way there's still lots to talk about let's talk about today's sponsor phantom wallets they have an all-new design it is all aluminum around the edges so the old ones were all plastic around the edges but now they're all aluminu m and they feel so much better yeah they're more heavy-duty and they look so nice they do and we've got a nice smooth operation to get those cards out that's my favorite part and
just like the other ones you can still get up money clip - yeah you can get them in a bunch of different colors and then you can also customize the actual wallet so we do have carbon fiber and we've got wood and for the first time the carbon fiber RFID works whereas in the previous ones that didn't you had to get a different trim they've got Kickstarter pricing right now if you want to get one of the new style wallets the link is right here below check it out in the description check out their
Kickstarter page and let's get URI into the driver's seat to talk about the cup holder to the cupholders we've got a weird way to position them so it's an Armorer's that splits in the middle and on the passenger side that's where the cup fits put your elbow down for me it's fine it doesn't get i n the way but it kind of bumps the lid on a small cup of Timmy's yeah so is that a pass or a fail ah it's a fail technically but it's also not the end of the world so it's like it's a it's the most
passable fail ever pretty much okay now let's get to the visors all right let's do this three two one no I didn't expect much from that no it's a fail and then since obviously you'll be driving top down we've got to talk about this wind deflector we have right here yeah so it actuall y just lifts out just like that and I would remove it right away because looking out through that screen isn't worth having less wind to me I think it is so I'd personally suffer more convertible in this of it it's
one button to get the top to go up and down and you can do it while driving nice and slow so let's slow down and hold it up looks like we got a top down subscription break this is the only time for you to subscribe and let's use described earlier when we told you we know you don't subscribe oh yeah that's right how does that speed and far teenis that that kicked out on me just like I said it would exactly and this does have an LSD so that always helps to kind of time for a little picnic or nurse
and go for Erie this is a lot of fun it's very sporty I think it's more luxurious than it is sporty it is it's a fine line between both of them I think I had more fun in the Boxster than this though I think I did too like a lot more yeah but this does look rea lly cool it does it's all new but it's still the new design language which kind of I'm not sold on yet so let's talk about the looks where do you wanna start the front end yeah front end for sure headlights I don't like them they're
different style BMW headlights but you can still tell they're BMW headlights it's like BMW headlights wearing glasses because they've got like four eyes yeah it's pretty ok I think it's a solid attempt at changing it up yeah but there's still remin iscence of the previous gen which is a nice little throwback so how about the grille the grille we have the blacked out one which I think helps a lot it is big it's not too big but I think it's ok yeah I don't think we're gonna get any memes from this
one and if we look at the hood we've got a couple cool body lines in there as well yeah overall I think the front end looks really good overall I do the front end looks like that mini Pinscher concept we made back in the day when we wer e saying how Kia needs to make a Mazda Miata yeah it does actually exactly like it yeah and if we move on to the side we've got a couple alright body lines it's nothing too extraordinary it doesn't really pop with this paint no it doesn't unfortunately this is
like a luxurious red it's not like a red red yeah like Mercedes does as well like they don't let you have the crazy stuff yeah exactly unless you're getting like a CLA RG la yeah which is weird but I guess makes sense do we have any fake vents on the BMW of course we do it's a BMW but they're actually pretty good this time the ones on the front fenders are actually real okay and then what about the wheels the wheels I think suit the car very well I really like these wheels and what is
the Continental recommended tire the Conti Sport contact 5 P and back to those fake vents there are fake vents in the back so how about the back end of this I think it looks alright but it's very similar to the n ew 8 Series yeah like I saw an 8 Series Convertible mike wait a second is that for it's very similar I think it looks pretty alright the taillights are cool it's a whole different look but the best part of it are the exhaust tips because typically BMW has been doing very weird exhaust
steps which we don't like these ones are actually integrated so that yes they are enlarged but they're integrated so it's fine they're the most real fake exhaustive but I think they're kind of real I like him a lot yeah these work but overall I think one of the best angles is the rear three-quarter of this it looks very sporty very roadster yeah but you gotta have the top down for sure now let's talk about this interior we've got beige seats the shade of beige works very well against the paint
yeah it looks great other than that it's pretty much exactly every other BMW interior from this generation yes it is except we don't have piano black buttons in our little center cockpit a rea no so they minimize the gloss black but it is up on the dash so it's still there and you do notice it because this is a convertible so you get dust and stuff there so just like the rest of them we got Wireless apple carplay we can't do wired apple carplay which sucks we've got reel winding satellite radio
stations we don't have to in mix we don't have Android auto obviously and that's pretty much it yeah for the infotainment but what we have different in this convertible than mo st other BMWs is a lot less room for everything yep pretty much because it is a roadster but I am very comfortable at six foot one and a half driving position this is one of the only roadsters I've had to move my seat forward other than the SL 63 well that's good for people but for stuff like we got a little compartment
here for things but it's also a pass-through which is nice so I guess you could fit skis maybe yeah I guess but the trunk actually has a decent amount of room more than a Miata yeah it's it's very good but I wish they made more room for the cup holder so some other fun driving things about this we've got the typical hey BMW and there's also the vitalize program hey BMW vitalize me so what vitalize you more flooring it or this song to sock oh really all right not for that if you need vinyl eyes
in a BMW roadster with nearly 400 horsepower you're doing something wrong so what this doesn't have that other BMWs of this generation has is Lane keep assist in cruise control but it does have adaptive cruise yeah but it does have Lane keep departure that'll pull you out of the lane so hard what you mean it's got all the stuff to keep you in the lane you just don't let you have it well cuz they wanted this to be a driver's car but you have to turn that stuff up cuz it's so intrusive it's so
intrusive but I am so grateful for having this button to hold and turning it all off the safety halo exactly and then unlike the other BMWs this one does not have a 360 camera it only has a reverse camera which makes sense pretty small car yeah but like for this price I kind of want all that stuff anyway it's just in case I'm feeling like it and like the other ones this does have ambient lighting and I think it's actually decent at least the way that it looks it's way too subtle I think for a
fun looking roadster but BMWs some all across the board with ambient lighting and these seats are actually really comfortable as well yeah having that issue with them at all but there's no massage no well I'm it was a sports car sports car so I guess that pretty much covers the news set for let's get into the price starts at seventy six thousand one hundred dollars Canadian this one is eighty four thousand eight hundred and ninety five dollars that's like two Miatas that's a lot of money so
that's around the same price as a Boxster yeah the S is a little bit cheaper the GTS is a little bit more of startin g prices you can option those out until whatever you want and I guess there's a convertible Corvette kind of cookie with this as well sort of kind of from the price like to cedar fast wheel drive it's actually almost identically priced and you can get in manual and it's a v8 and it's a lot faster than this then there's the Audi TT Roadster which is a lot slower than this you can't
get a faster engine and you can't get it in manual no and then there's also the Mercedes SL c43 which I actually forgot existed until I researched that car last night I didn't forget it existed I didn't know it existed because there is an SLC 300 which is very outdated I have a feeling that one is done and I think I even saw a news of it being but yeah that one had the number pad in it just a deal you know it's all so would you take this or a Boxster because that's probably the closest
competitor to this hands-down Boxster I would probably even take a van over this I fully agr ee with both of those statements however I think this is the most luxurious convertible roadster you can get I think it's a very good attempt for BMW to bring back to zet for it is a very good way to do it it's got a lot of heritage just like the Supra which actually exists and it's also based on this I said it you guys are already took that long don't forget to subscribe hit the notification valve check

I'm Jacob Arial bold for drive [Music] 40:20 BMW set for m4 TI with launch control predictable and off we go okay so it is quite fast but it's graceful it's not violent we're not control exactly like it didn't push you back in your seat too much kind of just it builds it progressively got it felt unnecessary yeah that's what I mean okay so let's get into a horsepower and torque 382 horsepower and 369 pound-feet of torque from a three liter inline six turbo and that zero to one hundred kilometer

at it's so small I wish it was right in the center like we just found out that the new m8 will be yeah it was in the new m8 commercial I saw on YouTube like change that add an option so you can get the center speed attack in the middle like I'm sure if they make this into an M model they finally get it so then wait are they gonna bring the clown shoe back then essentially sort of I don't know I just w ant the gauges changed so do I like why do they prioritize putting BMW maps in the middle I'm
not gonna use anything that's not Google Maps and like I don't care about a map in the middle exactly moving on to my third complaint the steering feel okay it is so weird it is kind of like the m240 I which we both did not enjoy the steering field does that come runa for you or not really it doesn't ruin it but it's just I expected a little bit more it ruins it for me I wouldn't want it w ith that yeah okay now time to send in the cliche corner and prove all of these faults and good things send
all that traction control is so good it does oversteer and it feels very neutral and handling not much body roll at all and it's just a rocket when you floor it compared to the m2 competition I would still take that that just feels better in every single way yeah just if it's more fun it's got more power it sounds better arguably but for a top-down experience they did a pretty good job they did a very good job yeah yeah because I think this is more of an old person car this is definitely
geared for older people like enjoying your roads there on your Sunday cruise with your retirement money and the price kind of dictates that as well because this is kind of expensive for a two-seater convertible roadster and the driving position is great and if you like BMWs you're gonna love this steering wheel because it's super fat and chunky but this does have a variable steering ratio so that's where that weirdness comes in so you can adjust it through the drive mode so you can put this in

sounded really good when you practically this is just like far far far far far this is more liveable like the SVR is like so obnoxious so it is which is why I love it but this isn't really geared towards people like you know it's not feel like you would get the m2 competition in a manual transmission yeah or the SVR for convertible because th at exists and this does tend to break traction fairly easily you also notice that as well yeah even with traction on if you floor it the backend goes

just like the other ones you can still get up money clip - yeah you can get them in a bunch of different colors and then you can also customize the actual wallet so we do have carbon fiber and we've got wood and for the first time the carbon fiber RFID works whereas in the previous ones that didn't you had to get a different trim they've got Kickstarter pricing right now if you want to get one of the new style wallets the link is right here below check it out in the description check out their
Kickstarter page and let's get URI into the driver's seat to talk about the cup holder to the cupholders we've got a weird way to position them so it's an Armorer's that splits in the middle and on the passenger side that's where the cup fits put your elbow down for me it's fine it doesn't get i n the way but it kind of bumps the lid on a small cup of Timmy's yeah so is that a pass or a fail ah it's a fail technically but it's also not the end of the world so it's like it's a it's the most
passable fail ever pretty much okay now let's get to the visors all right let's do this three two one no I didn't expect much from that no it's a fail and then since obviously you'll be driving top down we've got to talk about this wind deflector we have right here yeah so it actuall y just lifts out just like that and I would remove it right away because looking out through that screen isn't worth having less wind to me I think it is so I'd personally suffer more convertible in this of it it's
one button to get the top to go up and down and you can do it while driving nice and slow so let's slow down and hold it up looks like we got a top down subscription break this is the only time for you to subscribe and let's use described earlier when we told you we know you don't subscribe oh yeah that's right how does that speed and far teenis that that kicked out on me just like I said it would exactly and this does have an LSD so that always helps to kind of time for a little picnic or nurse
and go for Erie this is a lot of fun it's very sporty I think it's more luxurious than it is sporty it is it's a fine line between both of them I think I had more fun in the Boxster than this though I think I did too like a lot more yeah but this does look rea lly cool it does it's all new but it's still the new design language which kind of I'm not sold on yet so let's talk about the looks where do you wanna start the front end yeah front end for sure headlights I don't like them they're
different style BMW headlights but you can still tell they're BMW headlights it's like BMW headlights wearing glasses because they've got like four eyes yeah it's pretty ok I think it's a solid attempt at changing it up yeah but there's still remin iscence of the previous gen which is a nice little throwback so how about the grille the grille we have the blacked out one which I think helps a lot it is big it's not too big but I think it's ok yeah I don't think we're gonna get any memes from this
one and if we look at the hood we've got a couple cool body lines in there as well yeah overall I think the front end looks really good overall I do the front end looks like that mini Pinscher concept we made back in the day when we wer e saying how Kia needs to make a Mazda Miata yeah it does actually exactly like it yeah and if we move on to the side we've got a couple alright body lines it's nothing too extraordinary it doesn't really pop with this paint no it doesn't unfortunately this is
like a luxurious red it's not like a red red yeah like Mercedes does as well like they don't let you have the crazy stuff yeah exactly unless you're getting like a CLA RG la yeah which is weird but I guess makes sense do we have any fake vents on the BMW of course we do it's a BMW but they're actually pretty good this time the ones on the front fenders are actually real okay and then what about the wheels the wheels I think suit the car very well I really like these wheels and what is
the Continental recommended tire the Conti Sport contact 5 P and back to those fake vents there are fake vents in the back so how about the back end of this I think it looks alright but it's very similar to the n ew 8 Series yeah like I saw an 8 Series Convertible mike wait a second is that for it's very similar I think it looks pretty alright the taillights are cool it's a whole different look but the best part of it are the exhaust tips because typically BMW has been doing very weird exhaust
steps which we don't like these ones are actually integrated so that yes they are enlarged but they're integrated so it's fine they're the most real fake exhaustive but I think they're kind of real I like him a lot yeah these work but overall I think one of the best angles is the rear three-quarter of this it looks very sporty very roadster yeah but you gotta have the top down for sure now let's talk about this interior we've got beige seats the shade of beige works very well against the paint
yeah it looks great other than that it's pretty much exactly every other BMW interior from this generation yes it is except we don't have piano black buttons in our little center cockpit a rea no so they minimize the gloss black but it is up on the dash so it's still there and you do notice it because this is a convertible so you get dust and stuff there so just like the rest of them we got Wireless apple carplay we can't do wired apple carplay which sucks we've got reel winding satellite radio
stations we don't have to in mix we don't have Android auto obviously and that's pretty much it yeah for the infotainment but what we have different in this convertible than mo st other BMWs is a lot less room for everything yep pretty much because it is a roadster but I am very comfortable at six foot one and a half driving position this is one of the only roadsters I've had to move my seat forward other than the SL 63 well that's good for people but for stuff like we got a little compartment
here for things but it's also a pass-through which is nice so I guess you could fit skis maybe yeah I guess but the trunk actually has a decent amount of room more than a Miata yeah it's it's very good but I wish they made more room for the cup holder so some other fun driving things about this we've got the typical hey BMW and there's also the vitalize program hey BMW vitalize me so what vitalize you more flooring it or this song to sock oh really all right not for that if you need vinyl eyes
in a BMW roadster with nearly 400 horsepower you're doing something wrong so what this doesn't have that other BMWs of this generation has is Lane keep assist in cruise control but it does have adaptive cruise yeah but it does have Lane keep departure that'll pull you out of the lane so hard what you mean it's got all the stuff to keep you in the lane you just don't let you have it well cuz they wanted this to be a driver's car but you have to turn that stuff up cuz it's so intrusive it's so
intrusive but I am so grateful for having this button to hold and turning it all off the safety halo exactly and then unlike the other BMWs this one does not have a 360 camera it only has a reverse camera which makes sense pretty small car yeah but like for this price I kind of want all that stuff anyway it's just in case I'm feeling like it and like the other ones this does have ambient lighting and I think it's actually decent at least the way that it looks it's way too subtle I think for a
fun looking roadster but BMWs some all across the board with ambient lighting and these seats are actually really comfortable as well yeah having that issue with them at all but there's no massage no well I'm it was a sports car sports car so I guess that pretty much covers the news set for let's get into the price starts at seventy six thousand one hundred dollars Canadian this one is eighty four thousand eight hundred and ninety five dollars that's like two Miatas that's a lot of money so
that's around the same price as a Boxster yeah the S is a little bit cheaper the GTS is a little bit more of startin g prices you can option those out until whatever you want and I guess there's a convertible Corvette kind of cookie with this as well sort of kind of from the price like to cedar fast wheel drive it's actually almost identically priced and you can get in manual and it's a v8 and it's a lot faster than this then there's the Audi TT Roadster which is a lot slower than this you can't
get a faster engine and you can't get it in manual no and then there's also the Mercedes SL c43 which I actually forgot existed until I researched that car last night I didn't forget it existed I didn't know it existed because there is an SLC 300 which is very outdated I have a feeling that one is done and I think I even saw a news of it being but yeah that one had the number pad in it just a deal you know it's all so would you take this or a Boxster because that's probably the closest
competitor to this hands-down Boxster I would probably even take a van over this I fully agr ee with both of those statements however I think this is the most luxurious convertible roadster you can get I think it's a very good attempt for BMW to bring back to zet for it is a very good way to do it it's got a lot of heritage just like the Supra which actually exists and it's also based on this I said it you guys are already took that long don't forget to subscribe hit the notification valve check
