which 01:07 means disconnecting the front wheels so 01:09 it's full rear wheel drive and I even 01:11 checked the Mercedes AMG Canada website 01:13 and it says even in its pure rear drive 01:15 mode which I can't get this into and 01:17 there is no pure rear drive mode that I 01:19 can find I mean if there is a secret way 01:21 to do it Mercedes engineers hit us up 01:23 let us know we'll try it next year maybe 01:25 yeah maybe but anyways this thing's fast 01:27 so let me just floor it down

ship so 01:31 quickly oh it sounds so good too yes 01:33 like it's the most satisfying SUV to 01:36 drive and shift besides of the Stelvio 01:39 Quadrifoglio yeah this I just can't get 01:41 over every time you say Quadrifoglio the 01:44 folio anyways yeah this is straight up 01:47 one of my favorite SUVs to drive because 01:49 it doesn't feel like an SUV pretty much 01:52 at all and especially compared to the 01:54 BMW equivalents like the x3 M and the X 01:56 form that we drove on the track

this 01:58 feels so much better yeah this is just 02:00 more exciting to drive it handles better 02:02 it overall just generally feels faster 02:04 and just more aggressive and you can 02:05 hear when it's time to shift you can 02:07 hear the motor more compared to the BMWs 02:09 as well which rely a lot more on the 02:11 pump in this yeah and since this is a 02:12 9-speed multi-plate clutch transmission 02:15 it feels a lot better off the line than 02:16 it d oes compared to the x3 M

because 02:18 that's a traditional ZF on 02:23 and again that all-wheel drive for 02:25 launches just kills everything that's 02:27 rear wheel drive for lunch even if it's 02:28 like a faster car you know yeah so this 02:30 is zero to 100 km/h is 3.8 seconds which 02:33 is on par with the x5 m competition but 02:35 this feels so much better 02:40 compared to the GTR that we drove 02:42 recently that's rear-wheel drive this 02:44 launch is probably going to be overall 02:46 faster unless you're

on a perfectly 02:48 pressed surface and doing like a zero to 02:50 64 motor trend or rodent track or 02:52 something yeah because the GTR is 0.2 02:54 seconds faster to 100 but getting that 02:56 actual number is nearly impossible this 02:58 will do 3.8 all day and probably even 02:59 faster them yeah I I like this a lot yes 03:02 and since this is a real AMG it has a 03:05 handcrafted motor so there is a 03:06 signature on it but let' s talk about the 03:08 actual handling into cliche corner

so 03:10 I'm gonna put it into race mode and 03:11 traction fully off and let's see what 03:13 this does 03:13 okay this just straight up feels like a 03:15 car except a little bit taller now I'm 03:17 going to floor out of this corner and 03:19 see what happens a little bit of 03:20 oversteer only because I fully had to 03:23 turn off the traction not only because 03:25 the traction because you're also in race 03:27 mode if you were to try the same thing 03:28 in Sport Plus 03:29 it like still

bogs down with everything 03:32 off because new for this year is AMG 03:34 dynamics which we thoroughly explained 03:36 in our AMG GT R reviews so watch that so 03:39 to get your AMG dynamics into master you 03:41 have to have it in race mode or you can 03:43 also customize it through your 03:44 individual you can't customize it any 03:46 other way 03:46 yes the AMG GT R you're able to 03:48 customize it from the button on the 03:50 steering wheel in any mode so if we go 03:51 through cliche

as the last GL c63 that 04:19 we drove and what's been updated is the 04:21 outside looks a little bit and we've got 04:23 the all-new MBU acts inside yeah so the 04:26 engine is the same the handling should 04:27 be basically the same other than the AMG 04:29 dynamics which have been added so that 04:31 changes things a little bit so handling 04:32 wise this does have adaptive air 04:34 s uspension and it is fairly stiff 04:35 stiffer than typical BMW models but not 04:38 overly stiff even in

comfort mode in 04:39 this car yeah very liveable and you can 04:41 even dump the rear end to make this 04:43 thing look way better when it's parked 04:45 but only one you're loading stuff in 04:47 yeah 04:48 but generally this thing has a way 04:49 better overall stance compared to the 43 04:51 and since this is a real AMG we haven't 04:53 really touched on this yet let's talk 04:54 about the sound downshift downshift 04:56 [Music] 04:58 that v8 Rumble and let's see if we get 05:00 some

crackles yes so good it does sound 05:04 like it is pumped in in here yeah it 05:06 must be a little bit but from the 05:07 outside this sounds incredible when you 05:09 were passing me by I was in a different 05:11 car it sounded amazing with the window 05:12 down and while you're driving you can 05:14 hear everything you can hear every shift 05:15 every time you d o something you hear you 05:18 know what's going on and it's so much 05:19 more satisfying than a BMW products that 05:21 are

equivalent 05:22 yeah and it's such an aggressive tone 05:24 and the overall crackles and pops are 05:26 just they're programmed so well that 05:28 they're like random yes enough they're 05:29 they're random but like kind of 05:31 predictable yeah they're gonna happen 05:32 like I can make them happen non-stop so 05:34 I'm gonna downshift and just over a nd 05:35 over be really annoying kind of like 05:37 what we did with the AMG GT C's it's a 05:44 love it it's exactly what I want

recently drove the GLC 43 and there's 06:47 a lot of changes between that and this 06:49 one specifically what your II okay if 06:51 you look at the front end the GLC 43 had 06:54 similar openings these ones look a 06:56 little bit bigger and they're full out 06:58 openings they're real where the GLC 43 06:59 just kind of had that plastic material 07:01 in front but we do have the exact same 07:02 headlights and I think this front end 07:04 does look great yes this is the updated 07:05 GLC

headlights so they do look good we 07:08 do have the panamericana front grille 07:09 which i think the year before is GLC 43 07:12 only had the pin grill but this year's 07:14 also has the pen american girl and then 07:16 around those big openings at the bottom 07:17 we do have body color match swoops that 07:19 go around the openings too and moving 07:21 around to the side we have different 07:23 wheels than we had on the 43 but I like 07:25 these almost as much but they're not

my 07:27 favorite compared to the forged wheels 07:28 you can get which we had on the e63 yes 07:30 I really really love these wheels and I 07:33 think Mercedes is doing an awesome job 07:34 of specking out their models finally and 07:36 compared to the 43 that we had this has 07:38 six piston f ront calipers and the 43 had 07:41 four piston front calipers and that one 07:42 didn't have red front calipers did it no 07:44 it did not right for a race car that's 07:46 right and what is the

Continental 07:48 recommended tire for the AMG GL c63 s 07:51 the Conti Sport contact six then on the 07:54 43 we had plastic cladding over both 07:57 wheel arches this one we also still have 07:58 plastic cladding we can't get it body 08:00 match but on the 43 that we recently 08:02 drove it had wider plastic cladding on 08:04 the back only where this GL c63 has 08:07 wider on the back and on the front yes 08:10 so the front on the 63 is only a little 08:12 bit wider than the 43 but it

does 08:13 totally suck that you can't color match 08:15 it in any options that Mercedes offers 08:17 yeah but I don't even know if it would 08:18 look better you know I think it would be 08:20 mws are always color matched and I think 08:22 they look really good 08:24 jus t get the black one no no yeah yeah 08:26 okay and then obviously this is not the 08:28 coupie version which means that I 08:29 automatically like it more yeah and I'm 08:32 just not even gonna talk about that 08:34 right now it

just looks like a really 08:35 tall wagon like a fat wagon yes and it's 08:37 very car II especially if you look at 08:39 the side view when you dump the back 08:41 from the trunk the way the wheels sit 08:43 inside the arches is perfect I kind of 08:45 want t he front to be the same way 08:46 I fully want that come on Mercedes I 08:48 know you can probe down tonight in here 08:49 so now I'm moving on to the back end we 08:51 do have an extra little spoiler added on 08:54 top of the spoiler which

is the same as 08:56 the GLC 43 spoiler and then we have the 08:58 mercedes updated design language 08:59 taillights which look pretty cool and 09:01 then we've got double dual quad exhaust 09:03 in here yes not ovals like on the 43 and 09:06 they sound and look amazing here but 09:08 they are not real exhaust they're 09:10 disconnected so 2020 real yes 09:12 unfortunately but fun fact they actually 09:14 get really hot because the exhaust is 09:16 still blowing directly on to them

Romeo stell vo 09:41 Quadrifoglio the Jaguar FP SVR the volvo 09:44 xc60 ta Polestar engineer and the 09:47 Porsche Macan turbo I think this is near 09:49 the top personally this is I think the 09:50 most car II version of a ll of those but 09:53 the still vo is kind of tied with this 09:54 because it's just so cool so moving on 09:56 to the interior since this is a real AMG 09:58 it does have track paste I did try to 10:01 get it connected again still no luck it 10:03 said it's not available to

the app just 10:05 yet which sucks but it's cool I tested 10:08 it out and we can do ghost mode so you 10:10 can run through a track and while you're 10:12 driving it'll have a granted reality 10:14 show ghost it 's a really cool feature I 10:16 just wish it worked better yes if 10:17 someone from Mercedes can walk us 10:19 through it 10:19 that would be perfect I'm sure there's a 10:21 way to make it work but it's just 10:22 difficult for us to figure it out which 10:24 it shouldn't be yeah cuz

I want to use 10:25 my phone as the 4k camera for a track 10:28 stuff to test it out but I just can't 10:30 get it working exactly so this does have 10:32 the new MDX infotainment it does have 10:34 t he trackpad to use it which I don't 10:36 like however this whole time I've been 10:38 using it as just a touchscreen and it's 10:40 been working great what do you think 10:41 I've been telling you the whole time 10:43 with this new system okay and the best 10:44 part is these three vents up here I

use 10:46 the middle one to rest my fingers and I 10:48 touch everything I need to do when you 10:50 use it it's just a touch screen it's 10:51 definitely better but I still miss the 10:53 rotary wheel and it's nice that the 10:54 vents aren't gloss-black in this one so 10:56 just like the GOC 43 it's pretty much 10:58 exactly the same we've got apple carplay 11:00 it's not full wide screen we've got 11:01 Android auto we've got rewinding sound 11:03 like radio stations in tune mix we

have 11:05 themes a very high resolution 360 camera 11:07 lots of angles to make parking easy and 11:09 then we've got the updated gauge which 11:11 is pretty much exactly the same as 11:12 everything on Mercedes now even whether 11:14 it doesn't have the updated MDX yeah we 11:16 have the Super Sport gauges which we 11:17 love because it puts the tach right in 11:19 the middle and it flashes red when it's 11:20 time the option or when you're doing 11:22 launch control that we got a nice

head 11:23 up display that we can customise a bunch 11:25 of different ways to have tax and stuff 11:26 and we have an awesome D shaped steering 11:28 wheel with al cantara 11:29 and then we also have the drive mode 11:30 functions on the steering wheel as well 11:32 as the LCD functions that you can change 11:34 the more and more I drive these new AMG 11:35 models the more and more I love all 11:37 these funds on the steering wheel I 11:38 think it's great and I love that there's 11:39 full

drive modes 11:40 unlike the x5 m that doesn't have 11:43 dedicated sport Comfort Sport Plus race 11:45 all that stuff that's what I'm saying 11:46 this new Mercedes system of 11:47 customization is my favorite in 11:49 comparison to BMWs because I really like 11:51 the BMW previous generation system and 11:53 then this does have the cool ambient 11:55 lighting but it's not as good as the 11:56 e-class but it is pretty good and then 11:58 we've got carbon fibre in the dash and I 12:00 think it

looks awesome you can get dark 12:01 ash wood with jury likes and then you've 12:03 got nice materials on the side all like 12:05 this brush steel stuff 12:06 then we've got heated and cooled seats 12:08 which is great and you like the seats I 12:10 do like them they're a lot more 12:11 bolstered than they were in the 43 and I 12:13 love the seating position you get so 12:15 nice and low it totally feels like I'm 12:16 in a car like I don't feel like I'm in 12:18 an SUV yeah it's only handling

wise that 12:21 you kind of feel that it's a little bit 12:22 top-heavy but driving wise and sitting 12:24 wise yeah you're kind of in a car and 12:25 since this is an SUV and it is kind of 12:28 disguised as a car we should probably do 12:29 the box test box test one two three four 12:35 five six seven eight nine 12:44 10:11 and i feel like that's more room 12:51 than you'd get in like the a a class 12:53 hatch and probably even more room than 12:55 an AMG e wagon I don't remember what
