Taycan Turbo vs Turbo S Review - Better than a Porsche 911 Turbo S!

00:00 [Music] 00:13 motor drive Boise 20 Porsche hike on 00:27 turbo 00:27 20 20 Porsche tyke on turbo s with 00:30 launch control with launch control oh my 00:43 god okay 00:45 that's fast so hit me with the 00:52 horsepower and torque the turbo has up 00:54 to 670 horsepower and 626 pound-feet of 00:57 torque during launch control otherwise 00:59 616 horsepower and the turbo s has up to 01:02 750 horsepower 774 pound-feet of torque 01:06 in over boost during launch control 01:08 otherwise the

same 616 horsepower 01:13 so I guess if I floor it'll be pretty 01:15 fast and since I'm in the slightly 01:19 faster one apparently 01:20 yup feels just as fast as that one be 01:23 honest they're pretty much the exact 01:25 same speed unless you're in launch 01:26 control but even in launch control 01:27 pretty much no one's gonna feel the 01:29 difference because they're both faster 01:30 than pretty much anything you've ever 01:31 driven in your life yeah so the turbo is 01:33 ac tually rated

for 0 to 100 kilometers 01:35 in 3.2 seconds the turbo s is 2.8 01:38 seconds but in reality they're pretty 01:40 much identical and they feel the same so 01:42 as most of you guys know we've already 01:43 reviewed the Tai con turbo s now we're 01:45 going to compare both to see if it 01:47 really matters do you need the turbo s 01:48 more than the turbo but first we're 01:50 super excited to announce that again 01:52 we're partnering with omae's the last 01:53 two times we did the g63 and the

of those awesome cars a 02:58 yury think you know what time it is 03:00 send it 03:04 it's so fast I feel like there's pretty 03:07 much no difference no there really isn't 03:10 and the fact that they have the same 03:11 horsepower when not in launch control 03:13 means that there really isn't 03:14 okay so let's briefly touch on the looks 03:17 because we've already reviewed one of 03:18 these and talked about the looks bu t one 03:20 of these has the perfect wheels yes and 03:23 it's the grey

one that I'm driving which 03:24 is the turbo s and you can get these 03:26 wheels on the turbo but the turbo s just 03:28 comes with these wheels and it's cool 03:30 because you can get the white wheels on 03:32 anything but you also can get them color 03:34 matched so on the turbo s it's silver 03:36 it's color match to the car but you can 03:38 also get them in white and you can also 03:39 get them in white fo r non-white versions 03:41 yeah so if you watched our other review 03:43 you know

how much that we complain about 03:44 not having these wheels and I love 03:45 having these wheels so much you have to 03:48 get these wheels if you buy this car and 03:49 then another difference is that the tie 03:51 con turbo has color matched accents at 03:54 the front and on the sides where the 03:56 turbo ass has carbon fiber instead what 03:58 do you think looks better I think they 03:59 both lo ok pretty good the darker accents 04:01 make it look a little bit more 04:03 aggressive but I

like the white color 04:04 match more I think yeah I think I'd go 04:06 color match as well and then another 04:07 difference we have is on the electric 04:09 gas caps or whatever they're called the 04:11 electricity charging caps the electric 04:14 fuel door I think okay a fuel door the 04:16 turbo s you can slide your finger below 04:18 and it's the cool electronic version 04:19 that com es up and on the turbo you just 04:21 need to click and it flaps up but you 04:23 can get it optionally on

the turbo as 04:24 well if you pay extra and the last 04:26 notable feature between the two is the 04:28 brake calipers / the brakes the turbo S 04:31 comes standard with carbon ceramics and 04:33 they are bright yellow and they stop you 04:35 like crazy and this turbo has normal 04:39 huge steel brakes so we've got white 04:41 calipers honestly you're missing a lot 04:43 of th at pop and I feel like big yellow 04:45 carbon ceramic brakes is like part of 04:47 the image of the tie con I think

the 04:48 yellow calipers look amazing I really 04:50 don't think you need the carbon ceramics 04:52 for a car like this even though it does 04:54 help stop the car quite well I think you 04:56 should realistically just get the turbo 04:58 I'm just gonna say that right off the 04:59 bat and I'm completely opposite I think 05:01 you should get the carbon ceramics 05: 02 because this car gets away from you 05:04 because it's so fast you not used to it 05:06 and sometime 05:07 you really need those

carpet ceramics to 05:08 help slow you down so then what would be 05:10 the Continental recommended tire for the 05:12 Porsche Tyco on that would be the 05:14 Continental Pro contact Rx and lastly 05:17 one is white one is silver the last one 05:19 we had was a dark grey which I 05:21 absolutely hated because you couldn't 05:22 see all the black accents to be honest 05:24 after seeing them both I think I'd be 05:26 very fine with a silver instead of a 05:28 white even though I'm still team white

I 05:30 think they should have switched the spec 05:31 on these ones and the white should have 05:33 had the amazing wheels so I really like 05:35 the white with the white wheels yeah 05:37 it's pretty much the exact same spec as 05:38 the omission a prototype which is like 05:40 everyone's favourite to have it just 05:41 like the prototype a nd so this is kind 05:43 of a looks thing but it's also a 05:44 performance thing the turbo actually has 05:47 a better drag coefficient which

means 05:49 it's more slippery in the air I think it 05:51 has something to do with the side vents 05:53 the brake duct yes so on the turbo s 05:56 it's fake vents you don't have any gap 05:58 behind the wheel and when you're looking 06:00 at it from the side view it's filled up 06:02 but on the turbo it's fully open so I 06:04 th ink that's one of the things that 06:06 helps make this car more slippery and 06:08 get better fuel economy or battery 06:10 economy because the turbo is the

one 06:12 that gets slightly better mileage but 06:13 it's totally weird that the faster one 06:15 has fake vents and the slower one 06:16 doesn't oh it's the weirdest thing like 06:18 you and I had to do like a quadruple 06:20 take we're like is it yeah I guess it is 06:22 so what are the differences 06:23 performance -wise between the two well 06:26 they do have the exact same battery pack 06:27 it's 93 kilowatt hours so it's not that 06:30 it's actually in the motors they have 06:32 the exact

same motors in the back but in 06:34 the front the Tyco on turbo s has a 06:37 slightly bigger motor 06:38 so they're both all-wheel-drive and 06:39 that's one of the reasons why it can put 06:41 down a little bit more horsepower and 06:42 have a better launch and the funny thing 06:44 is the turbo is actua lly a little bit 06:45 heavier and maybe it has something to do 06:47 with those carbon ceramic brakes which 06:48 are standard on the turbo s and just 06:50 like our first Tyco on turbo s

review 06:52 they both have a two-speed transmission 06:54 it's the exact same one between them and 06:56 we've both noticed a little bit of 06:57 clunking kind of going between high 06:59 speed and low speed when it changes 07:01 between the speeds 07:03 [Music] 07:07 yeah Jacob pointed out tha t it feels 07:09 like you're going over a rumble strip 07:10 but I mean it's cool that you could feel 07:12 things happening in the car especially 07:13 electric cars which take out a lot of 07:16 the

feeling and if you put it into range 07:18 mode then that puts it into the higher 07:19 gear all the time so you would never 07:21 feel that in range mode but then it 07:22 limits you to 120 km/h because it's a 07:25 range mode and that's one of the 07:27 differences between the Thai Khan 07:28 compared to the Tesla models they don't 07:30 have different speed transmissions they 07:31 just have a fixed one exactly Porsche is 07:33 pretty much the only company that has 07:34 done that and I think

they did it more 07:36 for like Autobahn Nurburgring speeds and 07:38 stuff like that yeah so you get more 07:40 torque and more efficiency the best of 07:42 both worlds so I touched on the turbo 07:43 having a slightly better range let's get 07:45 to the range and chargi ng stuff now the 07:46 turbo has a range of 201 miles or 323 07:50 kilometers and the turbo s is 192 miles 07:52 or 309 kilometers so we did take note of 07:55 the mileage and how many kilometers it 07:57 said we could travel

when we picked up 07:58 the cars we're going to let you know by 08:00 the very end how many we actually did 08:02 driving it completely normally like 08:04 doing launches filming sitting around 08:06 with the AC on and also taking it easy a 08:09 bit on the hi ghway so now on to the 08:10 charging times for level 350 kilowatts 08:13 which is what most chargers are it takes 08:15 one and a half hours to get from five to 08:17 eighty percent level three up to two 08:19 hundred and seventy kilowatts

takes 08:20 twenty two and a half minutes for five 08:22 to 80% these charges are still rolling 08:24 out and they are part of Electrify 08:25 America and Electrify Canada and Porsche 08:28 owners do get three years of free 08:30 electric charging at half an hour at a 08:32 time and on a level two charger it 08:34 charges in about ten and a half hours 08:35 and one side of the Porsche has level 08:37 two and the other side of the Porsche 08:38 has level three we've got electric fuel 08:40 caps

on both sides but the turbo has it 08:43 as part of an optional Performance 08:45 Package which also includes rear axle 08:47 steering whereas the turbo s has rear 08:49 axle steering which is standard and then 08:51 we also have adapti ve air suspension 08:52 it's super comfortable and all the drive 08:54 modes and you can really see the car 08:55 raise and lower when you switch it up 08:57 yeah so the drive modes are arranged 08:59 normal Sport Sport+ and individual sport 09:02 plus by default

has the loud electric 09:04 sports sound on the inside and I think 09:05 it sounds awesome I'm just going to 09:07 floor right now 09:08 so cool spaceship yeah so what sounds 09:11 like they're just going whoop whoop and 09: 14 overlaying it instead of actually having 09:15 gears which is awesome and even when 09:24 you're slowing down you get a lot of 09:25 those cool electric car sounds it 09:31 definitely takes the cake 09:32 beats out the eye pace for the best 09:34 electro ki stuff yeah

spaceship sounds 09:36 are where it's at for electric cars and 09:38 then even from outside you can hear when 09:40 it's backing up and using its parking 09:41 sensors it sounds like submarine radar 09:44 like re ally cool so both in Sport+ PSM 09:50 sport we're gonna go through cliches 09:52 switch it up and see if we can tell a 09:53 big difference or not the first thing I 09:55 noticed is Porsche steering it is 09:57 incredible 09:58 pretty much feels like a 911 yeah oh and 10:00 I'm plowing

out a tiny bit on the turbo 10:03 they do understeer a little bit but 10:05 they're still so fun and very 10:07 controllable and floor it oh got some 10:10 oversteer but they are so flat this 10:12 su spension is incredible 10:14 so to me the turbo plowed a bit it 10:16 didn't really oversteer by didn't push 10:17 it too hard but it did feel like it was 10:19 on Rails through there like pretty much 10:21 slack our territory way weird 10:23 acceleration that I'm not used to so now 10:25 we're

gonna switch it up see if there's 10:26 a difference on the launch and then see 10:28 if there's a difference through cliche 10:29 corner turbo launch feels the same 10:38 and with 88 km/h but I'll floor it 10:43 anyways okay even with no launch control 10:51 it's still just as fast as the turbo 10:54 with launch control and this has less 10:55 range and since these are electric cars 10:57 even if you drive them in normal mode 10:59 there's still just as fast pretty much 11:01 all the time

unless you're in range mode 11:02 but we'll talk about that after cliche 11:04 corner so against poor Plus and PS M 11:06 Sport ok launching the turbo into cliche 11:09 corner man this just it has a lot of 11:12 grip but it does have less grip than the 11:15 turbo s and the turbo s does come with 11:17 much wider tires yeah the turbo s 11:19 definitely oversteers a lot quicker 11:21 before plowing and feels a lot grippier 11:24 through there but the steering feels 11:25 exactly the same the

horsepower feels 11:27 exactly the same yet to be honest I 11:29 think it comes down to tire size and 11:31 tire style like if you have a 11:33 performance or an al l-season and if you 11:35 fully turn off the traction control and 11:36 try to do a little bit of a donut it's 11:38 actually really easy and super 11:39 controllable so then moving on to the 11:41 interior we've got pretty much the exact 11:43 same interior that we had in the tie con 11:45 turbo s review that we did

previously 11:46 but in this one we've got red yeah and 11:49 in the turbo we've got black and in both 11:51 of them we still don't have the optional 11 :53 passenger screen so if you want a lot of 11:55 details watch our older turbo s review 11:57 but there's a few things I want to touch 11:58 on in this because we have now logged 12:00 into an account that gives us Apple 12:02 music yeah so I've never used Apple 12:04 music before and I don't plan on using 12:06 it but I'm sure for someone that

has 12:08 Apple music this is great to have well I 12:10 think it's kind of dumb because if you 12:12 have Apple music it's probably cuz you 12:13 have an iPhone and if you have an iPhone 12:15 you don't need Apple music built into 12:16 your car because you already have it on 12:18 your phone there you go from an Apple 12:20 person not even an Android person hating 12:22 on it but I'm not hating on Apple I'm 12:24 just hating on having that built in in 12:25 general if it was Google Music it

would 12:27 be just as dumb of a feature and 12:28 speaking of Google do we have Android 12:30 auto in here no we don't we still don't 12:33 have Android auto in here I even tried 12:35 hey Porsche enable Android auto doesn't 12:37 have it because it's not part of 12:39 Porsches stuff that they're including on 12:40 any cars yet 12:41 and we have apple carplay and unlike the 12:44 newer 911 Turbo S we've got the wider 12:46 one with bigger buttons so that the 12:48 icons on the left aren't the

size of a 12:50 baby's fingernail so being able to spend 12:52 more time with this car I got to be more 12:53 in dep th with a lot of things did you 12:55 notice that on satellite radio it does 12:57 rewind by the way to click the bottoms 12:59 at the button you pretty much need to 13:00 slide your finger along this bottom 13:02 panel I didn't because I don't rewind 13:04 satellite radios yeah the buttons are 13:06 really low at the bottom but the ledge 13:07 sticks out so much so it's kind

of 13:09 tricky to hit stuff luckily your 13:10 fingernails still works to touch 13:12 everything and th en the rest of the 13:13 menus and everything is pretty easy to 13:14 use but you should be parked while using 13:16 it because it is kind of confusing these 13:18 ones do have a hey Porsche feature hey 13:21 Porsche turn on my heated seats but it's 13:25 not very helpful it's pretty much only 13:26 good for like I have turned on the seat 13:28 heating temperature and radio stations 13:31 but

you can't control your Apple music 13:32 through the voice commands and then we 13:34 also h ave our vehicle settings so then 13:36 you can go to your drive your sister 13:37 your trip and your comfort but like a 13:39 lot of other Porsches a lot of the stuff 13:41 is grayed out while driving so we got to 13:43 drive this on the highway and use 13:45 Porsches new Lane keep assist system yes 13:47 I believe it's called Porsche you know 13:48 Drive and it's quite an expensive option 13:50 and with

Porsche inner drive there's 13:51 also a mode that will read street signs 13:53 and slow you down according to what it 13:54 sees I had to come to a full stop to 13:57 turn that off because there's a lot of 13:58 buttons you can't change while the 13:59 vehicle is moving because that thing was 14:01 pretty much a hazard it would slow me 14:02 down in the middle of nowhere while it 14:04 saw a Construction sign or something on 14:06 the side 14:06 once that was off it was pretty decent 14:08 to

use yeah so it reads the speed limit 14:10 signs and if there's cons tant changes on 14:12 the highway because of construction 14:13 zones it's actually very frustrating 14:15 yeah if all cars were actually 14:16 autonomous and the robots actually drove 14:17 like that all the roads would be a wreck 14:19 so we've also got a 360 camera here 14:21 which is pretty clear but it does kind 14:23 of warp along the sides and what sucks 14:25 is that it doesn't have a camera that 14:27 shows you directly

where your wheels are 14:28 so when you're parallel park ing you have 14:30 to use an augmented reality mode which 14:32 makes it kind of scary because I don't 14:33 know exactly how far the augmented 14:35 reality is from the wheels and I don't 14:36 want to scratch them then we still have 14:37 the shortcut button on the steering 14:38 wheel and the gauge cluster screen but 14:41 still like every other Porsche you can't 14:42 toggle right through your favourites on 14:44 satellite radio if you

want to go from 14:46 channel 5 to channel 4 you need to 14:48 scroll through 300 channels and unlike 14:50 the 911 Turbo S we do have these vents 14:53 that we can't actually touch we have to 14:54 do it 14:55 the infotainment to change them yeah 14:56 it's pretty much a vent simulator built 14:59 into the car if you're trying to poach 15:00 it at your face it's a total nightmare I 15:02 think I just leave it on defuse and hope 15:04 for the best will Auto climb it yeah I 15:06 basically use

auto climate in every car 15:07 and I'm kind of forced to use it in this 15:09 car and in the tie cone we also have a 15:11 bottom screen which controls your 15:12 infotainment it does have a couple icons 15:15 at the top which will show your applique 15:17 play when it's plugged in so instead of 15:19 having a hard button that's kind of a 15:20 nice shortcut to have and you can also 15:22 change your volume in two different ways 15:23 on this bottom screen yes you can 15:25 actually take two or

three fingers and 15 :26 just slide up the screen or you can also 15:29 just press the buttons for volume at the 15:30 bottom but I've had the issue where 15:32 every time I touch it I slap my fingers 15:33 too far and all of a sudden start 15:34 changing my climate and it also adds so 15:37 much grease to the screen and in the 15:39 wrong sunlight you take this nice cool 15:41 texture and pretty much just make it a 15:42 full out smudge yeah there's not too 15:44 much gloss black in here which

is reall y 15:45 nice however there's a lot of screens in 15:48 here which happened to be gloss black 15:49 because they're glass but it's nice that 15:52 the main gauge cluster you can make it 15:53 into a reduced mode yeah and I really 15:55 like the power meter mode it's kind of 15:57 like rpms without actually having rpms 15:59 so then ask for drive modes I assume 16:01 you've been in Sport Plus this whole 16:02 time entire time haven't changed it out 16:04 so I've been doing some range on
the 16:06 highway and it's pretty cool because it 16:07 kind of limits you at 120 kilometres an 16:10 hour so if you do put your foot down 16:12 unless you actually floor it all the way 16:14 down it won't easily break 120 yeah I've 16:17 used range mode on the highway and it's 16:19 great for that but what sucks about the 16:21 range mode and everything to do with 16:22 range here we don't have a cool range 16:24 score like we did in a lot of the other 16:25 easy cars and then we have butto ns

that 16:27 we can actually press on our gauge 16:29 display on the right and left of it 16:31 which I've actually gotten pretty used 16:32 to using after the first initial scare 16:34 of I have to touch my gauge screen to 16:36 control stuff but it's definitely a 16:37 little gross seeing your finger prints 16:39 there because they're right in front of 16:40 you and then you can also connect your 16:42 Porsche through a Porsche Connect app 16:43 which lets you monitor I guess how much 16:45 it

charges overnight and everything you 16:47 can pre climate eyes it it's pretty 16:49 useful but I didn't have to use it 16:51 because my car was in an underground 16:53 yeah and it's got a terrible rating on 16:54 the Android app 16:55 for some reason and then as for general 16:57 interiors do you still like it as much 16:59 as the earlier tie contest we reviewed I 17:01 do like it especially in the red which 17:03 is on the turbo s but even in black this 17:05 looks really nice and it's

very 17:06 functional and it's very comfortable 17:07 these seats are super comfortable that 17:09 bolstering is nice and soft this center 17:11 console armrest is so annoying because 17:13 it doesn't actually stay up so if you 17:15 lift it up you have to hold it up and 17:17 I've actually cut my finger on it and 17:18 now I'm bleeding so I really don't like 17:20 the center console how about not being 17:22 able to fully close the sunroof do you 17:23 mi nd that because I know you don't

like 17:24 open sunroof it is actually a bit of a 17:27 pain it's just it's just constant Sun 17:29 even though it is dimmed it's just 17:30 constant and I can't turn it off well 17:32 with the visors help cover the Sun so we 17:34 should probably do the visor test three 17:36 two one failed my pass but you know what 17:40 if I was if I was bald I could probably 17:41 hide my bald spot from the Sun like this 17:43 I don't think so I mean if I d rove like 17:46 this or something and I do fit

pretty 17:48 comfortably behind myself at six foot 17:50 one and a half and the trunk and the 17:52 front not too much space the same as our 17:54 last Tyco on turbo s review so with all 17:56 that out of the way let's get to the 17:58 prices so the turbo is the cheaper one 18:00 starting at one hundred and seventy 18:02 three thousand nine hundred dollars 18:03 Canadian and it's optioned out to one 18:05 hundred ninety one thousand seven 18:07 hundred and forty dollars and how about 18:09 the

turbo s two hundred and thirteen 18:11 thousand nine hundred to start Canadian 18:13 and this one is two hundred and thirty 18:14 seven thousand three hundred and ten 18:16 dollars to be honest it's a lot but this 18:19 car is so cool probably one of Porsches 18:21 coolest non GT cars so now it's time to 18:24 debate between both of these and also 18:26 get to that 911 Turbo S question I think 18:29 personally between th ese two I'm team 18:32 Tyco on turbo not Turbo S I think you 18:35 should

just save the money because 18:36 they're pretty much exactly the same as 18:38 each other 18:38 as much as I love the crazy launches in 18:40 the Turbo S yeah the launchers are 18:42 pretty much the same the performance is 18:43 pretty much the same but if I had the 18:46 chance I go turbo ass because I would 18:48 love to have a top trim in the press 18:50 color white on white with the yellow 18:52 brake ca lipers and we did drive the 911 18:55 Turbo S recently and we've been

debating 18:57 which one we take we would actually both 18:59 take the Tyco on turbo which is crazy to 19:01 say yeah I picked icon because the 911 19:04 Turbo S was cool 19:05 but I get more thrills out of this and I 19:07 think AG 19:08 t9 11 would be way cooler so the 911 19:11 Turbo S just doesn't do it for me as 19:12 much as everything else does 19:13 yeah the Tyco on turbo and the Turbo S 1 9:16 do it for me way more than the 911 Turbo 19:18 ested but GT cars no I'd still take a

GT 19:21 car over any of these yeah a hundred 19:23 percent and end it off I want to give a 19:25 huge thanks to amazed for partnering up 19:26 with us on this video so click the link 19:29 below and let us know which car is your 19:30 favorite on omae's comm slash all cars 19:36 [Music] Inglês Turbo S!
