[Applause] i'm jacob i'm yuri and we're going for a [Music] drive 2021 ford mustang mach 1 with launch [Music] control [Music] that's all grip that's quick horsepower and torque 480 horsepower 460 pound-feet of torque from a 5-liter v8 hit me with it hit me with it downshift downshift damn that is so loud and like aggressive yeah we do have a valved exhaust which we'll get to later okay what is mach 1 mach 1 is a special edition of the mustang it has been around since i believe 1969 or 1970.
there was one in 2003-ish for a couple years and now it's back and where does it fall in the mustang lineup so the mach 1 has always bridged the gap between the gt models and the shelby models so the shelby gt350 no longer exists the bullet no longer exists so this kind of takes the place of that below the shelby gt500 above the gt and it seems like this kind of has some parts from both ends what does this have from shelby's so from the shelby gt350 we actually have the same intake m anifold we
have an oil filter adapter and an engine cooler and then we also increase the engine cooling capacity by about 50 percent how about our transmission that's also borrowed from a gt350 and this tremex six speed is worth every penny like it's such a good transmission i've never really cared about mustangs like the bullet was cool but it was kind of like a pain the second i used this transmission i was like oh my god i love mustang so like ford why were you hiding the 350 and 350 video from us for
like so long like we've been wanting to drive the 350. if i knew it had this transmission i would have been so stoked on it camaro did the same thing by hiding the camaros from us like yeah and the gt350 also had that flat plane crank 5.2 and now we're german fanboys well sort of i like my americans once and other things this borrows from the gt500 it actually has the cooling suspension and arrow from the 500 as well okay and then what does it have from the gt well the engine with the gt350
manifold so this is the same five-liter v8 okay i think they said this is the fastest most track focused five-liter they definitely did say that okay we unfortunately could not take this on the track because we're the first ones to grab it and i guess they're a little worried make sure everyone's got a turn with it yeah and this also pretty much has break in kilometers because we got to hand it to us with about 200 kilometers probably because it's actually mustang day today the 57th birthday of
it and since this has some orange trim on it jacob has an orange mustang it's a match made in heaven yeah so it turns out i'm a bit of a mustang guy i do currently own a fox body i also previously owned a fox body so yeah it's kind of fitting that we got this first happy birthday mustang [Music] happy birthday happy birthday mustang [Music] happy line lock mustang [Music] happy birthday mustang and since it's the mustang's birthday toda y i think the mustang would really appreciate if everybody
subscribed today and i mean i also have a mustang and it's kind of my birthday it's my mustang's birthday it's everybody's birthday today every mustang owner should subscribe in honor of mustang's birthday and maybe even camaro owners and maybe even challenger owners every owner of everything you got a nissan rogue subscribed so let's get into some of the performance aspects of this even though we can't drive on the track i can still test it through cliche corner this has magneride damping and
it is fantastic not too stiff it's just right in every mode this is very very comfy yeah and we have a bunch of modes so it does change between the modes but i find that there's not much of a difference it's just really comfortable yeah and if you want to get a deeper dive into the modes i think we did a lot of that in our bullet video yeah and these are the exact same modes and you mentioned the bullet this is a ctually basically the same engine from the bullet but a nicer transmission yes and
more aero and more race car stuff to keep it cool yeah it's pretty much the perfect 5-liter mustang and the steering is also very good it's very direct and it's actually quite heavy but you can vary with the steering button and again all these toggles you can only press them up which is a little bit weird yo this steering though goes with the road you need to have your hands on the wheel at all time y ou go through a little train track you're gonna be in there yeah yeah and speaking of
train tracks this suspension is so much better than the camaro zl1 1le that we drove going over train tracks that was like deadly like it's just back breaking this is totally fine but the zl11le is technically a step above this this would be equivalent to an ss1le that's right yeah even though we haven't driven one to our knowledge we might have at the wrong fellas driving school i don't r emember yeah engine wise performance wise track wise that's where it's at and we've got a limited slip
differential and i'm definitely going to use that sending it into cliche corner with this magnificent transmission so downshift with rev matching on because it works so well and then this just it just crips like holy crap that's what sets this mustang apart from every other mustang that we've driven is that it just grips like it doesn't want to slide as much you can get it to s lide if you turn off traction but it just grips with these fat 315s out back there is a huge lack of fear like there is
with the other mustangs that we usually have i always felt like the other ones fall into like the cliche of a mustang kind of skidding out and that's just a little more plain yeah especially with like the launch control it hooks up everything but once everyone takes their turns through this car it would be nice to take it on the track so uh ford when everyone's done with it hit us up yeah yeah because it is a track edition yeah and we got to compare this to another car which is called the
track edition on the racetrack and we can slide it so all right so that's enough of me driving this thing let's get you into the driver's seat manual launch control yuri 4000. [Music] powership yeah dude this transmission is the best transmission for a mustang ever it really is and this has so much power like the right amount of power that was such a goo d launch every time real talk i take this over the gt500 this is like so much cooler and this is usable like it's all usable power that gt500
was just mental yeah we drove in the canyons i was kind of like all right what could i do with like nothing all right whatever a little deadly in the canyon we don't really we're still here so it's all good we don't really get those kind of cool cars in canada because uh you know yeah canada well we do but it's hard to get them was there gt50 0 in canada well it exists yeah but not a press conference for us all right a little cliche send auto rev match yeah this grip like this feels like more of
a sports car and less of a pony muscle car than every other mustang does exactly this is definitely more sports cars yeah that cliche cornerstone was total opposite of what i expect mustang to be but looks wise this is fully what i expect mustang to be except one glaring thing that i feel like they missed the lack of the shaker ho od i don't really care about the shaker hood because it's heritage they're trying to do this whole heritage thing saying it's like the first one except they don't have
the shaker hood yeah but like the hood graphics cool yeah i'm sure that makes up for it no it definitely it definitely doesn't that that was a big miss i think take the 1970 mustang mach 1 for instance it's got recessed taillights an optional 428 cobra jet v8 with a shaker but this hood graphic it's pretty awesome it's got like the stripes on and it's got the mach 1 logo which is like the original mach 1 logo which never changed i love that 6070 style of art yeah the art the vibe everything's
good the front end is mental looking like look at that front lip it's crazy and then we've got the normal mustang headlights but it sucks because you can't get the cool drls unless you're in park with the hand brake up which is like totally stupid yeah and then moving around to the side it looks incredible with these wheels the wheels are really sick i don't even know how to describe them and then we got orange matching brake calipers behind there too yeah the overall from the side
looks amazing and what would be the continental recommended tire for the mach 1 mustang the extreme contact sport and when you open the door sills we also get mach 1 written there too and we've got like a lot of like body kit there on the side yeah and then one of our subscribers was pointing ou t the fact that this particular model does not have this plastic trim around the front wheel well because of the extra width of the tires not sure what's going on there but ford says you're supposed to
only get in the back which is where we have it because that's borrowed from the shelby gt500 and then we also have this awesome wing back there that's like layered on top of a wing yeah so that's an extra gurney flap which is technically meant for track use only but we definitely hav e it bolted on yeah how about our exhaust exhaust looks and sounds incredible let's take a listen to the outside and let's take a listen from the inside that sounds so good i generally don't like the sound of
mustangs i think they're too loud like the gt500 was too loud the bullet felt a little too loud this is just right i mean they're all just right my ears are not burning yeah well you do have the active value exhaust sorry the active valved performance exhaust yeah i said active value because that's what richard hammond said when he did a ford commercial and he was misreading the script the mac one actually has an active value performance exhaust and they left it in because i guess there was no
other takes and not that they can't take money from manufacturers i feel like richard hammond and crew have they've done it long enough that now they can exactly but we don't no exactly we're going to not take money from manufacturers until we're they're until we're as old as they are yes so this does not have a active value performance exhaust that has an active valve performance exhaust yeah you can go through a bunch of different modes you can have the good neighbor mode which is awesome yeah
i definitely wouldn't use that but i see why people would well maybe you don't like your neighbors as much as i do well i do like my neighbors i just like to hear exhausts a lot well maybe they don't like you oh they probably don't and to finish of f the looks the color the color is uh jit fighter gray another jet fighter inspired thing this year well it's a mock one it all makes sense yeah they're allowed and there i did see a nice yellow one you can get blue i think i would take this in like
the lighter yellow even though i already have a yellow car so with everything looks wise to this would you take the looks of this or the bullet mustang i would definitely take this this looks way better yeah especially since bullet is i rrelevant right and you can't even get the bull yeah yeah whatever you can't even get the bullet anymore like you can't get the gt350 anymore you know i bought the bullet blu-ray to watch it cause everyone got mad at me and i just still haven't even opened it well
they'll still get mad at you in the comments for this one this or shelby gt350 350r uh yeah and gt500 uh i think i don't know this is almost more mustang and that's more like it's more extra yeah so it's like a little too cr azy yeah i don't know but it's good and looks wise this or your fox body in orange oh but definitely my fox body they should put this in orange too yeah yeah and then you would legally have to buy it because you need to legally buy every four product in that color what's that
color code again it's called molten orange tri-coat metallic or something like that that i honestly don't even ever remember and then i want to turn rev-matching off and do one heel toe down shift it's very easy to heel toe down shift this yeah no problems in this car not like the st models yeah i know that don't exist anymore okay interior what do you want to talk about first in here let's just get this gauge cluster out of the way because it's the same as every other mustang that we've
driven yeah it's all digital you can have it so it's two round circles you can have it so it kind of comes up and across or my favorite track mode where it goes left to right you can change the colors change the shift light stuff it's very customizable yeah we have line lock in there we have our rev matching in there it's kind of intuitive once you figure it out because there's two ways to get to your menus there's a pony button to press to get to certain menus and then there's a settings menu
for other menus which look kind of similar yeah i don't think it's intuitive you just get used to it exactly but yeah lots of options it is pretty cool and then and then our infotainment i s standard sync 3. we don't really need to go into that it is android auto and apple carplay and our reverse camera isn't like the most high-res but it's pretty clear and very very smooth for a ford and then we also have hard buttons for the climate we also have heated and cooled seats and i think that the one
fault that this car has other than the shaker hood is that we don't have the recaro seats in this and i don't find these two bolstered considering this is the track handling pa ckage you can get recaros for this and just like all the other mustangs we have some type of brushed metal looking material on the dash this one looks like a it's got a big brush yeah pretty cool no gloss black we do have the mach 1 chassis code up there what's our number what's our number uh m2283 so if you bought this
car we're the ones who broke it in for you and we are sorry you're welcome and we're sorry and then we're also sorry for the stuff we're gonna do on track with it l ater yes and then the door panels and everything it's just black it's pretty plain how about the back seat room not very good it's the standard mustang backseat room and then as for shifting position there is nothing obscuring my arm from shifting back you can trip whatever way you would whatever way i'd like because i like to put my
hand more sideways and on top and like i never feel like i'm hitting the wrong gear or anything like this is a better shifter than the m3 m4 no question yeah and the m2 as well because that's what the shelby gt350 would have been going up against and considering that doesn't exist this kind of fills that void it's so weird that the shelby gt350 goes against an m2 yeah well it kind of makes sense it kind of makes sense it's just like i need to like see that in real life it's a totally different
approach to the same thing okay so one little boot through cliche corner again and then let's get to the price yeah this is completely diffe rent than a regular gt mustang yeah it feels so good let's get to the price before the price one last thing uh visor test oh yeah man i keep forgetting that i know you did three two one full pass good job and another thing the cup holders and it definitely passes yeah except if you're trying to drink a coffee and you're on some roads that are moving
around yeah i mean the tires are kind of doing that for you tram lighting is bad okay get to the price it starts at thousand fiv e hundred dollars canadian and with the handling package this has this is seventy five thousand nine hundred dollars that is a hell of a deal for the amount of performance you get yeah like almost deal with this entry i feel like you say that a lot but it kind of is yeah other than my fiesta st that too i'm a raptor and this would be comparable to a lexus rcs track
edition oh how convenient that we have one of those and we're comparing it to this yeah watch that review to see wha t we think how about this to a comparable camaro even though we don't know if we've driven one yet so the zl1 1le which is the closest one that we've actually driven that was just it was a totally different animal i felt like that one was just too stiff but an ss would be very comparable i hopefully think it would have slightly softer suspension but probably not considering it's
the zl1 package and the one we drove was automatic and this is manual and that completely changes the wa y everything is treated it really does and you can get the ss and the zl1 in manual as well and you get this in automatic but it's a 10 speed and we haven't driven that yet no never so i mean i actually think i prefer this it's it's very comparable but they're all very different from each other at the same time and i'm totally undecided until i do some comparisons with camaros because i just
like can't picture in my head how about this compared to the germans like a c63 or maybe an m4 i mean yeah i like an m4 i guess this just has a totally different vibe to it i would i would take an m4 in lime green in manual over this really but i think this might be a little like more fun it's it's hard it's it's like i really can't decide but i think i'd pick all of those over a c63 because that doesn't offer a manual and the thing is this is so much cheaper than all of those including the
lexus rcf track edition so i mean your performance value dollar goes very far in

for other menus which look kind of similar yeah i don't think it's intuitive you just get used to it exactly but yeah lots of options it is pretty cool and then and then our infotainment i s standard sync 3. we don't really need to go into that it is android auto and apple carplay and our reverse camera isn't like the most high-res but it's pretty clear and very very smooth for a ford and then we also have hard buttons for the climate we also have heated and cooled seats and i think that the one
fault that this car has other than the shaker hood is that we don't have the recaro seats in this and i don't find these two bolstered considering this is the track handling pa ckage you can get recaros for this and just like all the other mustangs we have some type of brushed metal looking material on the dash this one looks like a it's got a big brush yeah pretty cool no gloss black we do have the mach 1 chassis code up there what's our number what's our number uh m2283 so if you bought this
car we're the ones who broke it in for you and we are sorry you're welcome and we're sorry and then we're also sorry for the stuff we're gonna do on track with it l ater yes and then the door panels and everything it's just black it's pretty plain how about the back seat room not very good it's the standard mustang backseat room and then as for shifting position there is nothing obscuring my arm from shifting back you can trip whatever way you would whatever way i'd like because i like to put my
hand more sideways and on top and like i never feel like i'm hitting the wrong gear or anything like this is a better shifter than the m3 m4 no question yeah and the m2 as well because that's what the shelby gt350 would have been going up against and considering that doesn't exist this kind of fills that void it's so weird that the shelby gt350 goes against an m2 yeah well it kind of makes sense it kind of makes sense it's just like i need to like see that in real life it's a totally different

the zl1 package and the one we drove was automatic and this is manual and that completely changes the wa y everything is treated it really does and you can get the ss and the zl1 in manual as well and you get this in automatic but it's a 10 speed and we haven't driven that yet no never so i mean i actually think i prefer this it's it's very comparable but they're all very different from each other at the same time and i'm totally undecided until i do some comparisons with camaros because i just
like can't picture in my head how about this compared to the germans like a c63 or maybe an m4 i mean yeah i like an m4 i guess this just has a totally different vibe to it i would i would take an m4 in lime green in manual over this really but i think this might be a little like more fun it's it's hard it's it's like i really can't decide but i think i'd pick all of those over a c63 because that doesn't offer a manual and the thing is this is so much cheaper than all of those including the
lexus rcf track edition so i mean your performance value dollar goes very far in
