[Music] we're going for a drive 2020 audi rsq8 with launch control [Music] holy crap that puts you back in your seat holy horsepower 591 horsepower 590 pound-feet of torque from a 4-liter turbo v8 same motor as the aorus yes it's a twin turbo is it the same as the urus no it's not just very different car let's get into that right out of the gate the urus is meant to be super fast yes and it's a lamborghini and it's meant to be one this is very fast but it is just slightly slower than that and a

to omaze.com straight pipes right now but we're also going to bring it up at the end of the video as well in case you fall in love with it by that point just like i'm going to floor it right now holy oh god wow so when we were comparing this with the aorus the aorus is also a lot more expensive than this this is actually kind of reasonable when you look at the urus so the earth is about 150 thousand dollars more than this rsq8 roughly and i think t his is like 20 lamborghini oris whereas that is
like you know 95 actual lamborghini so i think you actually do get the value for your dollar when you buy the aorus and when you buy this as well how about the rsq-a it looks compared to the urus looks i mean i think the urus looks way better does it look 150 thousand dollars better i think it does but this rsq-8 still looks really good especially when you get it in like the green color not so much in this gray yeah the green color is a lot better if you want to have it look wilder but if you
get in one of these dark colors it's very subtle but you still do get extremely sporty big suv yeah it just it really feels like an audi it's still just as comfortable as any audi have basically driven even though it's an rs so in the stiffest mode it's still not as stiff as the urus but i did see that there is an abt version of the audi rsq8 that schmidt did a review on and that thing with the aero kit i think that fully co mpetes looks wise with the lamborghini and i would actually prefer that
over in urus wild so back to what makes this actually feel like an audi is this air suspension even though it is rs tuned it's so comfortable and in the highest off-road mode it goes ridiculously high now the confusing part about the drive modes is that there's all-road and off-road so i think off-road is slightly more off-roady than all road and other than that we do have comfort auto dynamic and then two adjust able rs modes on the steering wheel which is really nice to have that button
yeah kind of like the bmw m1 m2 one but we've got rs1 and rs2 yeah on the same button and the general layout of everything in here is just like every other audi which is totally different than the urus as well but the infotainments are pretty much the exact same thing just reskinned for lamborghini yeah but you don't get that like cool toggle switch with like the jet fighter cockpit stuff like the coo l stuff in the lambo yeah the hard stuff is different in the lambo but the software is the same
and in terms of drivability this does have quattro all-wheel drive and the aorus was also all-wheel drive but that was a lot driftier feeling this one doesn't feel so rear biased even though it can send up to 80 of the torque to the rear wheels yes and it can really push through corners with that all-wheel drive system to the point where you're faster than a lot of cars yeah it's insanely quick so let's test that through cliche corner the turn in response is insanely good i feel like it
understeers less than other audis even sedans and once that quattro all-wheel drive decides what wheel to give power to it really pulls you through all the corners it does i don't feel like it pulls nearly as well as the earth did but that's kind of what we expect out of this yeah and it doesn't feel as rear biased it just feels very neutral and it's an enjoyable experience it' s very pleasurable to drive this car fast it's the right amount of power and handling for the amount insane amount of
comfort you get in this yeah you can realistically be in any drive mode and throw anybody into here and they'll be just as comfortable in this because if you don't drive this fast it just feels like a really luxurious suv and so now i'm going to downshift so we can hear some exhaust pretty quiet in here but really good on the upper rpms not so good down low yeah yea h when you're shifting high up it's pretty good not quite as good as yours but from expect from outside it's nice except if you're
parked because you can't rev it out all the way exactly and we do have an eight speed auto which shifts really quick it's the same transmission that we have basically across the entire audi lineup and pretty much in the entire industry at this point yeah no complaints except for the plastic paddles yes and well you actually have another complaint is the direction of the up down yeah i've kind of accepted that down as to downshift up as to up shift i did see in the marketing videos where
they're like going fast and the person goes back and i'm like ah he downshifts instead of upshifting but really he was just putting it into sport while driving straight yeah sport shifting it's like oh i gotta shift faster put it into sport shifting but don't actually up shift like what yeah marketing be marketing right exactly and they're st ill speeding up footage like guys stop speeding up footage [Music] so there's still a lot to talk about with this suv with the inside and the outside but
let's get you behind the driver's seat all right let me hop back there okay behind the driver's seat yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah that's what i mean like i just want to keep driving you're just going to talk from back there so things i like about this audi for daily driving we've got apple carplay that you plug in with the usb and the n it also gives you the option to do wireless apple carplay i don't like wireless artful carplay but i know a lot of people do having both is the best idea ever
and while you've got your apple carplay up you've also got all these buttons here on the left so you can still go to different screens without having to push too many buttons which is a great thing that a lot of other companies are screwing up yeah and this is one of my favorite infotainment systems in the industry the n in our head up display everything is very clear it doesn't hurt my eyes like that rav4 that we're also driving this week yes shout out to that video if you watched it yet if it's
out either way the head-up display is great you have to turn it off through the infotainment system but it'll also change if you're not in an rs mode it'll go to the normal one and then when you go to the rs mode that'll also change your gauge cluster up so let's do that then there's a view button to change it up again we can also in the view mode click the menu button and go down to reduce display to have less stuff or we can add more stuff like a 0 to 100 timer but i really don't like that
tack i think they just should have had a circle tack like they had on the previous gen rs's but i do like this and the reason is when you combine it with your map it's got a cool angle very nice graphic design solutions the cool angle is definitely kind of cool but now i got to test out that lau nch timer launch control hot tamale that's fast geez it really sends you that second gear i like the launch control works all the time it's so easy to use nothing confusing about it like a bmw would
be yeah and it'll do zero to 100 under four seconds every single time and we've got some performance pages in here do you find them useful at all it's kind of cool that you can see all your temperatures i would really appreciate that on the racetrack because then you can see your bra ke rotor temperature i feel like i'm spoiled by everyone who's got a built-in dash cam recorder and anything that has less than that i'm kind of just disappointed but a lot of cars don't have this which is really
cool and we've also got our off-road angles and everything like that too which i don't think many people are really going to use in this i really don't think so but this price they can't not include it yes and we do have a amazing 360 camera in here everything is very hig h-res it does get a little warpy at the edges which also happens in porsches i guess it's like the same family so they probably share some of the same tech but we also have the augmented reality 360 mode where we can spin around
ourselves too yeah and that works so much better than bmw's modes and just porsche doesn't even have that mode except in the ticon i think and the best part about this 360 camera is wherever you click that section will show up so you can see your front wheels your back wheels so you don't curve anything while trying to parallel park yeah because we've got some massive 23-inch big boys on this one okay should we talk about the looks a little bit i would love to i think this thing looks really
good they did a great job of making this look more aggressive than the luxurious looking q8 and we do have the black optics with the carbon package so everything just looks even meaner than just if you didn't have that yeah but the carbon fiber lik e barely pops off this gray color i think it really pops in the sun on the front it's nice having that little rsq8 badge at the front even though you can only see that little red part and then we also have the three indents in the grille kind of like
the r8 what i don't like about the grill though is that at the very bottom of the front it's obviously fake grille where everything else is real i think if they put in some more effort the overall look would have been better and the hea dlights look pretty much the same as we had on the regular q8 yeah and then we got really cool sequential turn lights and everything how about the side well first thing is those 23 inch wheels i love them and what would be the continental recommended tire for
the rsq8 the conti sport contact 6 which is what we're riding on and behind those sick wheels we've got some massive clampers in the form of ceramic brakes and they are huge love seeing those gigantic red brake calipers so m oving around to the back end what do you think of these rs oval exhausts on the sport exhaust system yeah they look nice but you can see different exhausts inside that exhaust tip yeah it's so weird seeing like two different shapes inside the shape but yeah it's a nice
look what i don't like is all the fake grill mesh kind of pattern around everything at the bottom but it's kind of expected and this is a koopa suv but there still is a whole bunch of room in the back seat how do you fit i fit fantastically back there at six foot one and a half overall this looks fantastic it really does and it differentiates itself from the oris just enough yeah it can be wild if you get it in the green and it can be very subtle if you get in a dark color like this yeah because
if i saw one of these in gray i wouldn't really notice that it was an rsq8 unless i really looked and i feel like the qa we drove didn't have any exhaust tips at all so it's nice seeing exhaust tips h ere so i guess it's my turn to test it through cliche corner and it goes exactly where you point it i'm not getting any understeer any oversteer i'm not pushing it to the limit but i can really feel it pulling through yeah on normal roads it's so perfect it's just so neutral this oh bad it's not
like the wild stallion like the maserati was like this is just so composed yeah yeah 100 and if you're not gonna be driving fast say you need to drive in rush hour traffic on the highway w e also have very good lane keep assist yeah an adaptive cruise and traffic jam assist all that fun stuff works really well in here yeah you can't take your hands off the wheel for too long without it bugging you but it'll also recognize intersections coming up so if you zone out it'll slow you down towards the
lights and part of driving it around daily if you're not ripping it but also if you're ripping it this does have all-wheel steering and it helps you in parking lots and it also helps you in sense so now moving on to the interior we do have massage seats up front they are very comfortable yeah heated and cooled we control everything through the infotainment through all these touch buttons and all that stuff and it works really well yeah again this infotainment is very good considering how much of
it is touch i don't know how they got it so good yeah and then we got a ton of gloss black in here i hate that but it's what he's doing in all their cars now so how ever it looks nice but then we have matte carbon in here which is different than the gloss carbon so i feel like they should have done gloss in here as well class against gloss though you got to mix those materials up keep people interested no way so then how about the visors oh let's find out oh i think i think they'll rip it

will so with all the good stuff about the audi rs q8 out of the way let's get to the price there really isn't too much bad stuff except the price which starts at 126 500 canadian and this one's optioned out to 157 550 that is a lot but this is a very luxurious suv it may not be as flashy as like a bmw or a mercedes but it has all the features that those have yeah and i really like everything about this i said the price isn't that good but it's actually really good when you consider the aorus as
a competitor to this so what are the main competitors for this well this would be like the bmw x6m competition the mercedes gle 63 coupe the maserati levante trofeo the porsche cayenne turbo coupe as well there's a bunch of suvs in this category i feel like this falls in the middle of all those it has things that are better and worse than all of the different versions which one would you take i mean if price is no factor lamborghini or no no no no but if it is this is near the top for me i
