00:07 [Applause] 00:11 I'm Jake on the area we're going for a 00:14 drive 00:16 [Music] 00:23 20:20 out e r8 v10 performance with 00:27 launch control 00:32 oh my god this is fast 00:35 that's sound yeah so this is a naturally 00:38 aspirated v10 5.2 litres of Lamborghini 00:42 fury sort of horsepower and torque 602 00:46 horsepower 413 pound-feet of torque and 00:49 you are saying this is the exact same 00:50 engine from the Lamborghini yes so the 00:52 Lamborghini Huracan gets this exact

same 00:55 engine as the base for the all-wheel 00:57 drive so the peripheral monta that we 00:58 drove had more horsepower than this from 01:00 the same engine and it's a lot more 01:02 expensive than this car a lot more 01:03 expensive okay okay that's pretty good 01:05 then this is a good value and I think my 01:07 favorite part of this engine is how high 01:09 it revs almost 9,000 01:13 do you know what that 9000 memes from 01:16 isn't it like Dragonball Z or something 01:18 yeah power level

I went Vegeta was 01:21 checking out Goku and this thing sounds 01:23 absolutely amazing I love naturally 01:25 aspirated depends the crackles and pops 01:28 man they did such a great job with this 01:30 exhaust sound and if we did get a proper 01:32 launch which were not because it's 01:34 winter but this thing launches pretty 01:35 hard however if it was completely dry 0 01:38 to 100 km/h in three point three seconds 01:40 which is silly fast because this is 01:42 all-w heel-drive yes so it is

all-wheel 01:44 drive his Quattro so I'm sure everybody 01:46 in the comments has now said oh it's 01:48 Quattro season baby everybody with an 01:50 Audi now they say yeah that's what they 01:52 say to be honest probably not my 01:54 favorite all-wheel drive system in the 01:55 snow yeah it does understeer just like 01:58 every other OD that we've driven but 02:00 like you can't get it to oversteer but 02:01 it's just like if you know what I 02:03 thought it w ould be no exactly in terms 02:05 of

the all-wheel drive performance in 02:07 terms of the actual performance this is 02:09 insane like downshift downshift 02:10 downshift that's so fast like what down 02:17 shifts what up shifts like that nothing 02:19 the automatic transmission when you're 02:21 in comfort mode and you floor it the NSX 02:23 and the GTR were so bad at them yeah 02:25 this is a dual-clutch 7-speed and I 02:27 think this takes the cake at least for 02:29 me for the fa stest shifting automatic 02:31 dual clutch

transmission I've ever used 02:33 so keep it in auto put it in comfort and 02:36 let's get to a nice high gear I'm gonna 02:37 go comfort but I'm gonna make the 02:38 exhaust loud ready well cassette well 02:40 Gary in seventh gear I'm gonna floor it 02:45 that is ridiculous instantly down to 02:48 second and you're flying in comfort yeah 02:51 it's insane so there is a little bit of 02:53 a delay because the dual clutches have 02:55 to do stuff and then you're just gone 02:56 remember in the

NSX presentation they 02:59 were telling us how impressed we should 03:01 be with the drive mode selector it'll 03:03 switch your drive modes instantly it's 03:05 like yo the pedal does that here yeah it 03:10 works it works perfectly so let's talk 03:12 about these drive modes we have four 03:14 regular modes Comfort Auto dynamic and 03:16 individual and then we've got an extra 03:18 special button on the steering wheel 03: 19 with a race flag on it so you hit that 03:21 and you're in

performance mode so then 03:23 you have snow wet or dry so we are in a 03:26 snowy conditions today it is fantastic 03:28 to use these modes because you have 03:29 performance in those modes so it's not 03:31 like drift mode in the snow it's like 03:33 grip mode in the snow yeah and it drops 03:35 you down one traction control so you can 03:37 still have control and like move 03:39 everywhere 03:39 yes so this is like kind of meant for a 03:41 racetrack really meant for I think 03:43 everyday

life this is definitely an 03:45 everyday supercar because how long how 03:47 many racetracks are gonna be in snow 03:48 yeah well you can go to Toronto 03:49 Motorsports Park in the winter and that 03:51 would probably be a lot of fun to drift 03:53 around there and I noticed that the 03:54 shifting gets crazy fast in the 03:56 performance mode so like right now I'm 03:58 in performance so let's just listen to 03:59 this that's that's beyond lightning is 04:04 that faster than the gt2 RS I

good okay the 05:47 front grille it's gigantic it's just 05:49 like the Audi tt-rs pretty much and they 05:51 added these like three nostril type 05:53 things right below the hood yeah they're 05:55 fake grilles though so like that's kind 05:56 of dumb it looks cool though does it 05:58 yeah you know what else had three grills 05:59 at the fr ont what's that my 1983 Camaro 06:02 alright then we've also got some fake 06:05 girls on the sides too which I guess is 06:07 cool if you want to add a

bunch of 06:08 grills you seem to be mentioning fake 06:10 girls a lot does that upset you it's 06:12 just like why I think it looks cool with 06:15 them even on the very back okay the back 06:17 one at the top kind of sucks it like it 06:19 was all the way across but then it's 06:20 real girls on the side and then we've 06:22 als o got a fake vent behind the window 06:24 yeah I'm not a big fan of that one see 06:26 it's like too much weird stuff whatever 06:28 I let's get back to the front

yeah 06:30 headlights headlights look great yeah 06:33 they're solid they're very aggressive 06:34 typical Audi of the new generation 06:36 well not the new generation the old 06:39 generation because the new generation is 06:40 like the lined ones like the a7 you're 06:43 right 06:43 so one generation back and the new rs6 06:45 Avant that I saw people are driving 06:47 right now that would be fun to drive and 06:48 be really fun to drive love wagons love 06:50 wagons okay and we don't like

about the 06:53 friend of this r8 compared to the first 06:55 r8 and then the first redesign there's a 06:58 gap from the headlight to the grille 07:00 below it I didn't notice that no I liked 07:02 how he was like solid all the way across 07:04 and then we do have a little franck up 07:06 there which doesn 't have much room and 07:08 it's got these weird little nuts on this 07:09 which potentially makes it a supercar 07:11 but we'll get into the supercar 07:12 checklist when you drive and then

side 07:13 profile looks looking all right looks 07:15 good okay the first r8 had that cool 07:18 line that went all the way up the side 07:19 behind the doors this has the side 07:21 blades kind of but it disconnects like 07:23 it's a floating side you're right yeah 07:25 so I don't really like that as much but 07:28 I think it does look good and we do have 07:29 the gas cap sticking out there on the 07:31 side as well 07:32 well we both do agree that the first gen 07:34 r8 looks the best out

of any gen ra yeah 07:37 so I'm not gonna argue with you there 07:38 but I still think this one looks really 07:39 good Wow I don't even think it comes 07:41 close but okay we've got really nice 07:42 wheels especially for the winter because 07:44 this may be a supercar as we'll find out 07:46 soon what are the Continental 07:48 recommended tires for the Audi r8 the 07:49 Continental Sport contact six what do 07:52 you think of these big old brakes they 07:53 look great red calipers which are

an 07:55 option to get them painted because these 07:57 are a carbon ceramics back-end looks 07:59 pretty aggressive I love that it's so 08:01 wide yeah that's the best part but I 08:04 feel like they lost a bit of form in it 08:06 and I think the convertible version of 0 8:08 the 2020 looks better because of that 08:10 and yes this is mid-engine so it does 08:12 look good from the back because it's 08:13 widened out and you can actually open 08:15 that rear glass from the driver's side 08:17 and

it's so cool you can see the engine 08:19 behind the glass it's got the v10 badge 08:21 on it and everything 08:22 I like seeing it behind me in the rear 08:24 view mirror I've actually adjusted it so 08:26 I can see more of the engine yeah that's 08:27 the mo st important part all for sure 08:28 then we've got this really cool carbon 08:30 fiber wing on the back which kind of 08:32 looks like an aircon wing kind of yeah 08:34 do you like it I do obviously it's 08:35 carbon fibre it's a wing I'm

alright 08:37 with wingless are aids 08:38 yeah I agree there but this one does 08:40 look cool and what'd you think of these 08:41 tail lights it always look good they're 08:43 sequential nothing too much going on 08:46 yeah they're not over-the-t op in any way 08:48 but they look really good I really like 08:49 the diffuser the diffuser is super 08:51 aggressive I love that feeling it's a 08:53 whole lane wide yeah yeah exactly and 08:55 then the fattest exhaust tips may be 08:58 fitted to any

vehicle ever they are oval 09:00 ish they are well they are fully oval 09:02 because that's the RS I know I know but 09:04 they don't look they're like just a 09:05 little oval yeah I guess and then 09:07 they've got a cool pattern in t here and 09:08 then we can open up the exhaust it 09:10 sounds so good and getting back to that 09:11 fake grill at the back you can see the 09:13 exhaust and stuff through it well that 09:14 means that part isn't fake I know but 09:16 they carry that on into the

middle where 09:18 the plate is mounted yeah and it just 09:20 looks so like I feel it the 09:21 put it down something different parts of 09:23 it a little bit weird I agree but 09:24 because it's on this gray color I think 09:26 it just kind of all works yeah I feel 09:27 like this one you should I just get an 09:29 all black so you can't tell anything 09:30 this is the most subtle supercar you can 09:32 buy is it a supercar well I guess we're 09:35 gonna find out with urea in the

favorite because of 10:48 all the buttons on it supercar pass do 10:50 you look cool getting in and out not 10:52 particularly 10:53 just normal yeah you look pretty normal 10:55 getting i n or out supercar fail do the 10:57 doors go up no they don't 10:59 supercar fail and lastly does it get a 11:02 lot of attention no it does not 11:04 especially not in this color is this a 11:06 supercar I think it's a subtle supercar 11:09 and I think it has to automatically get 11:11 a supercar pass because

of v10 Yuri 11:14 Florrick 11:16 yeah this is a supercar this is a 11:18 supercar the most subtle supercar you 11:21 can buy almost tied with the NSX make it 11:23 the title of our film get it up Kuro he 11:27 says everything's a film yeah so since 11:28 this is a supercar big shadow to OD for 11:30 actually putting supercars on the road 11:32 in winter shout out so before we get 11:34 into the interior 11:35 let's talk handling this does have the 11:37 magnetic ride suspension and I

haven't 11:40 driven one without it but this is 11:41 fantastic like this absorbs all the 11:43 bumps the damping is fantastic in 11:45 dynamic mode and in comfort mode it like 11:47 it just really easy kind of like the rs5 11:50 was exactly like this feels like a 11:52 really good daily just like the NSX but 11:56 I think I like the handling of the NSX a 11:58 little more maybe cuz I had more chance 11:59 to push it 12:00 well we've also driven the NSX on summer 12:02 tires in the summer yeah

that's a big 12:04 dip I'm a part of it 12:05 howdy give us a shout yes the track 12:07 calls next summer does the steering feel 12:10 weird it all or a nything 12:11 not a single weird thing about it 12:13 exactly it feels so normal it turns in 12:15 exactly how you want it to it's very 12:17 predictable and the steering wheel is 12:18 like very light like you're not gonna 12:20 get tired driving this thing around not 12:22 heavy or anything even in dynamic mode 12:23 it's still relatively light

it's nothing 12:25 like a BMW in BMW stiffest mode and you 12:28 don't lose any feel in it no you don't 12:30 so remember on the rs5 sport p ack I said 12:32 I didn't like the damping in dynamic 12:34 mode it felt bouncy yeah this doesn't 12:36 feel bouncy this means that they got it 12:38 right and I still think that they 12:39 screwed it up on the arms five-score 12:40 back 12:41 oh and one crazy stat that I'd like to 12:42 share because I saw it on the website 12:43 when I was researching this

car 50 12:46 percent of the parts from this car are 12:47 shared with the gt3 LMS race car you 12:50 should added that to superc ar checklist 12:52 I guess they have a race car part in it 12:54 okay so now let's dig into this interior 12:56 and the most noticeable thing we've got 12:59 a TT RS in here oh I was gonna say that 13:01 it's bread but that's not what the TT RS 13:02 is all right we've got no infotainment 13:04 screen it's built into our gauge cluster 13:07 which kind of gets me

thinking so did 13:09 the aircon so it's the old-style 13:11 outtie infotainment it's not like the 13:12 new a7 and the Lamborghini earth yeah 13:14 it's one generation back super easy to 13:16 use once you realize you do have a 13:18 rotary wheel down here at the bottom and 13:20 all your buttons I caught myself using 13:22 the steering wheel buttons to control 13:23 the infotainment and I just confused 13:24 myself and I was like oh yes thank god 13:26 this exists pretty much exactly like

the 13:28 Audi tt-rs but a couple 13:29 more buttons on the steering wheel and 13:31 we do have apple ca rplay android auto no 13:33 we're winding Satellite Radio's but I 13:34 know that's coming up in newer outtie so 13:36 I'm ok with that but the r8 is not 13:39 getting a refreshed generation like they 13:40 said the RA it's done yeah so I guess 13:42 you need to go buy a first gen r8 then 13:44 we've got three knobs right here for 13:46 really easy climate control we've got 13:47 heated seats

we've got traction control 13:50 buttons right here and parking assist 13:51 buttons all tha t stuff we also have 13:52 wireless phone charging which is really 13:54 nice we only have a reverse camera it 13:56 shows up in the middle of the gauge 13:57 cluster we don't have a 360 camera but 13:59 we have 360 radars and the image for the 14:01 360 radar is the r8 with the mid-engine 14:05 showing yes you can actually see you the 14:07 engine right there which is always a 14:08 reminder exactly I

love it so then we do 14:11 have a normal shifter but up for up down 14:14 for d own in an r8 yeah well you just use 14:17 the paddles however what are the paddles 14:19 made at a fury blastic so as we were 14:22 hoping wasn't true when we drove every 14:24 other RS this does have plastic paddles 14:26 and the new rs6 and stuff has metal 14:29 paddles but there's not gonna be a new 14:30 r8 so yeah but redeeming quality I have 14:34 never shifted an automatic transmission 14:35 faster than I have

with these paddles 14:37 yeah it feels great there's one of those 14 :39 little things yeah yeah but speaking of 14:40 one of those little things do you feel 14:42 kind of like this should have a newer 14:44 infotainment no like don't you guys hate 14:46 the idea of brand new 2020 vehicle with 14:49 a solder gen infotainment I personally 14:51 don't like if you got a new pixel and I 14:53 had a Android KitKat or whatever those 14:55 things are called that would be terrible 14:56 but that's not

the right analogy yeah 14:58 that's kind of the same you nobody meets 15:00 like oh we're giving you a really good 15:01 phone three lenses super crisp Android 15:05 KitKat if that's your opinion then 15:07 that's your opinion but I can't afford 15:08 these anyways yeah exactly doesn't 15:10 matter and as for the rest of this 15:11 interior we've got carbon fiber 15:12 everywhere and the thing feels really 15:14 good and it's bright frigging red yeah 15:17 this isn't like the nicest red

interior 15:19 all the plastic matches all t he 15:21 materials perfectly the actual color of 15:23 the red that they picked looks amazing 15:25 and that the amount they included like 15:27 if they added a little more I think it'd 15:29 be too much I would like it but I agree 15:31 with kind of cheapen it and maybe one 15:32 registro yeah yeah that's had the 15:34 glovebox or something and I do really 15:36 like for such an high-end sports car 15:37 that there's no infotainment popping up 15:39 I

see what they did I see why you' re 15:41 more driver focused without 15:42 that there I don't want to fiddle with 15:43 anything I kinda just want to drive it 15:45 the whole like cockpit area is all 15:47 driver focus like it's all about the 15:49 driver I feel like I'm just a peasant on 15:50 this side you are just a peasant but 15:52 like not cool peasant because I've been 15:53 in r8 and then that's worth to your 15:56 storage room really not much nothing 15:58 really the Porsche 911

speedster for 16:01 being a convertible had more room than 16:03 this yeah but I do have a lot of 16:05 headroom in this which I did not have a 16:06 lot of headroom in the Huracan perform 16:08 on tape but that was the spider so now 16:10 the seats seats are super comfortable 16:12 they're very comfortable they've got a 16:13 nice quilted pattern on them however 16:15 there are no memory seats yeah that's 16:16 pretty much the worst part I guess if 16:18 you want add a label supercar that

other 16 :20 people can drive as well because it's so 16:22 daily able having memory seats is a must 16:24 I kind of agree as much as it's like the 16:26 weirdest thing to agree on yeah this 16:28 kind of needs it because it's so daily 16:30 alone and here's another off-topic 16:32 memory seat rant I think every memory 16:34 seat setting should automatically adjust 16:36 the steering wheel if it's electric and 16:38 the mirrors especially the mirrors oh 16:40 absolutely 16:40 there's nothing
worse than like I'm in 16:41 my seat I can't see anything yeah rant 16:44 over is there anything else you'd like 16:45 to talk about yes one more thing okay in 16:47 that Iron Man movie Tony Stark 16:49 introduced the r8 to the world remember 16:51 that yeah I do and he also kind of 16:53 introduced the NSX as a convertible in 16:56 another movie really Soto 16:57 Tony Stark was about the daihlia both 17:00 supercars all right yeah that makes 17:01 sense I just wanted to add that in

there 17:03 okay thank you so now that we've 17:05 confirmed that this is one hundred 17:06 percent of supercar let's find out if 17:08 this has a supercar price hit me with it 17:09 the r8 starts at one hundred and eighty 17:12 eight thousand four hundred dollars 17:13 canadian that has 70 less horsepower 17:16 than the v10 performance which we are in 17:18 the v10 performance starts at two 17:20 hundred and twenty thousand four hundred 17:22 canadian and this one is two hundred 17:24 forty

thousand three hundred and 17:25 eighty-five dollars that's a lot of 17:27 money so that's pretty much the same 17:29 price as a new Acura NSX exactly but 17:31 compared to a Lamborghini Huracan okay 17:34 so if you were to get a Huracan in 17:35 all-wheel drive spec it's a lot more 17:37 expensive however a rear-wheel drive 17:39 spec it's pretty much around this price 17:41 which is probably a lot more fun but I 17:43 guess people who want all-wheel drive 17:45 for daily able stuff need

all-wheel 17:47 drive for daily bull stuff exactly so I 17:49 don't think they're actually being cross 17:51 shopped but I could be wrong and you 17:53 were saying that the Acura NSX is 17:54 different because it's going to get 17:56 a whole bunch more fuel economy yeah 17:58 exactly so I think that technically 18:00 makes it the better daily super car 18:02 because of the gas mileage they're both 18:03 just as fast as each other pretty much 18:05 and I th ink I'm a little jaded because

I 18:07 like the first r8 so much more than this 18:09 one I would have to go team NSX for a 18:12 daily driving supercar for a daily 18:14 driving supercar I agree but I still 18:16 think I like this car more just because 18:18 that v10 5.2 liter naturally aspirated 18:21 gem right behind my head maybe if this 18:24 was a convertible 18:25 Yuriy floor for me 18:29 it's hard to argue with that no it is 18:32 really hard to argue then I think I' d be 18:33 even harder if it was convertible 18:34 I
