are obviously 01:04 on a race track so everything is closed 01:06 to us 01:06 only very safe circumstances all right 01:08 let's do a little bit of corner three 01:10 four 01:10 five and see how this feels but it is a 01:12 little rainy slash icy right now yes so 01:14 i do have the traction off but i'm still 01:16 in all-wheel drive mode because this 01:18 is capable of 100 rear wheel drive so 01:20 let's see if i can induce some oversteer 01:22 yep throttle oversteer no problem and 01:25 what

mid-cycle 02:15 refresh 02:16 yes except bmw calls mid-cycle refreshes 02:19 lci 02:19 and you know what that stands for hit me 02:21 with it life cycle 02:23 impulses i mean okay they have changed 02:26 quite a bit but they also haven't 02:28 changed 02:28 quite a bit okay what they did for this 02:30 one is they updated the headlights to be 02:32 more like the newer ones 02:33 yeah and overall the front bumper as 02:35 well then the tail lights a re more 02:36 updated to be like the newer

ones 02:38 but the body lines are still the old 02:40 style sweet swat 02:41 bmw body lines right so they change what 02:43 they could without changing the overall 02:45 structure of the car because it's much 02:46 cheaper to do that and they've also done 02:48 some infotainment stuff too especially 02:50 compared to that 2018 m5 that we drove 02:52 that was a 2018 02:53 yeah that's right and it wasn't even a 02:55 competition this is a competition and 02:57 fun fact canada only gets

the 02:58 competition you can't get the regular m5 03:01 here 03:01 and then what is this color this is 03:03 imola red this is a individual color so 03:05 you got to pay extra for this it does 03:06 not match the brake calipers but it's 03:08 close enough and it looks really sick it 03:10 does look really good i've never seen 03:11 any big luxurious bmw in such a bright 03:13 color yeah and i really like this 03:15 update b ut i don't love it and i didn't 03:17 dislike the previous one so i'm

totally 03:19 okay with either one yeah 100 03:21 the headlights do look really good 03:22 they're kind of just like elongated 03:24 and the grille is also kind of been 03:26 updated but we don't have a massive 03:27 grille which is really nice 03:28 it it does match bmw new bmw it would be 03:32 fun if they did 03:32 a life cycle whatever of the m4 instead 03:36 of doing a full m4 03:38 people would have loved t hat and since 03:40 we're talking about these headlights 03:41 bmw just teased the

m5 cs 03:45 and the headlights are yellow inspired 03:47 by motorsports and that is amazing 03:50 i like it i love it that's so cool 03:52 because it's not amber it's yellow 03:53 okay wheels wheels are pretty good 03:56 especially considering these are winters 03:57 but the regular ones are just like 03:59 classic five spokes 04:00 and then what would be the continental 04:01 recommended tire for an m5 competition 04:03 the sport contact six 04:05 and in the winter the conti

winter 04:07 contact ts 830p 04:08 and then competition does mean you're 04:10 getting blacked out trim everywhere 04:12 which does look pretty badass 04:13 that's right and we also have these kind 04:14 of like fake side vent things except i 04:16 believe they're real so i will take my 04:18 fake word back because if you stick your 04:19 fingers in deep enough 04:20 it kind of looks real yeah but like 04:22 having a black badge on a black grill 04:24 like you can barely see it but i

guess 04:25 that's part of the competition part of 04:26 it yeah for sure and then how about the 04:28 exhaust tips 04:28 exhaust tips are awesome they are 100 04:31 real 04:32 and they are carbon and we do have the 04:34 optional 6 000 04:35 titanium exhaust and it looks and sounds 04:38 amazing and what does it sound like from 04:40 the 04:40 outside 04:47 it's really good ye ah this thing 04:49 crackles and pops 04:50 like it's insane it's actually crazy how 04:52 much this crackles and pops

like you 04:54 have to get it below 70 so i'm just 04:55 going to give us a little bit of 04:56 downshifts right now 04:57 get some crackles 05:01 and 05:06 every single time i think it's the 05:07 perfect audio level for 05:09 being inside the car and driving because 05:10 it is very insulated but you can still 05:12 hear a lot of things but when you're 05:13 outsi de 05:14 it's so freaking loud you cold start 05:16 this your neighbors are gonna hate you 05:17 god i feel like the biggest piece

of s 05:20 in the world because every time i cold 05:21 start this like six seven in the morning 05:23 if i have 05:24 to it is so loud 05:47 yeah but it's sick i i like i like this 05:50 setup a lot i like it a lot too but i'm 05:53 honestly 05:53 kind of embarrassed and i feel guilt for 05:55 the first time starting a really loud 05:57 car 05:58 i've n ever felt that before so overall 06:00 looks wise was it a huge change is it a 06:02 huge improvement 06:03 i would say it's definitely a

lateral 06:05 move it's not good it's not bad 06:07 it's just right down the middle it had 06:08 to be done and they did a great job of 06:10 doing it exactly so as you guys saw us 06:11 earlier launch this 06:12 this does do zero to 100 kilometers per 06:14 hour in 3.3 seconds which is 06:17 so fast and we do have a 8 speed and it 06:20 is 0 6:20 so good love the zf 8 speed in every 06:22 single car and because this is an m car 06:24 we can actually change 06:25 the shift time which is really

nice 06:26 because you can actually just smooth it 06:28 out if you just want 06:29 nice smooth transitions or you can have 06:30 violent ones yeah but i think this is 06:32 the most difficult bmw shifter to 06:34 understand of all the m cars but it's 06:36 fine it's all 06:36 it comes in it's like it's good yeah you 06:38 and i w ell especially me i've been 06:39 revving at people in neutral because i'm 06:41 thinking i'm in drive and i feel bad but 06:42 anyways 06:43 this shifter kind of sucks

but you get 06:45 used to it eventually and then 06:46 what you don't get used to or at least i 06:48 can't and i still don't like because the 06:49 previous gen 06:50 had the way better system is this m mode 06:52 and the setup yeah you have to change 06:54 everything in the infotainment through 06:55 the setup and th en you can program it to 06:57 your m1 and m2 06:58 buttons on the steering wheel which are 06:59 actually like the coolest buttons ever 07:00 it's just something you need to

do 07:02 in advance you can't just hop in and 07:04 assume your bmw m5 competition 07:06 is going to be good for what you want to 07:07 do that's right and i really miss having 07:08 those individual hard buttons for each 07:10 mode 07:11 and the drive mode stuff you can change 07:12 is the engine chassis s teering and the x 07:14 drive so you got sport plus sport plus 07:16 and chassis and engine 07:17 and then you only have sport or comfort 07:19 steering yeah and the only way to get 07:20 this

into two-wheel drive 100 rear wheel 07:22 drive mode is to have the traction 07:24 fully off as you saw in the beginning of 07:26 the video which makes sense it's a good 07:27 system 07:28 yeah i mean people that are going to do 07:30 that will want the traction to be fully 07:31 off 07:32 and w hat's cool about that is you can 07:33 actually stay in automatic where on 07:34 drift mode in a mercedes you need to be 07:36 in manual mode that's right this whole 07:38 sequence of things that you have

to do 07:39 in a mercedes whereas this it's pretty 07:40 easy yeah but they have an e63 s wagon 07:42 and there's no m5 wagon oh i know and 07:44 then when we're talking about suspension 07:46 in this car 07:47 it's like kind of comfortable but also 07:49 kind of like stiff 07:50 yea h so you have to come into this 07:51 expecting a competition like it's 07:53 literally called competition even the m5 07:55 yeah i know so this does get pretty 07:58 stiff 07:58 but it's not unbearably stiff it's

just 08:00 stiff in comparison to other luxury 08:02 vehicles 08:03 but overall it's like very comfy for 08:05 normal driving exactly you really only 08:07 notice it under like bad pavement and 08:09 then you just put it into comfort 08:10 suspension it's still 08:11 pret ty fine and i hated the steering 08:13 feel in the previous gen m5 08:15 i feel like they improved it quite a bit 08:17 in this one but it still does that kind 08:18 of like 08:19 rubbery thing where it just always

wants 08:21 to kind of bounce back to center 08:23 yeah and i'm not over analyzing it and i 08:25 feel great behind the wheel 08:26 steering this thing anywhere i want to 08:28 go yeah it's not like you can't get it 08:29 to do what you want to do but it just 08:30 doesn't feel as good of the 08:32 m2 but that's a very high benchmark all 08:35 right so i guess it's my time to drive 08:36 yes it is 08:37 do a little launch no launch control i'm 08:39 going to be in manual with my head

up 08:41 display off so i get the cool shift 08:42 lights in the gauge cluster good luck 08:43 shifting on time 08:45 [Music] 08:52 oh my i noticed you're shifting early 08:54 but you did catch it exactly every time 08:56 when my eyes see red 08:58 the hand goes click i think you shifted 09:00 on yellow the first time 09:02 this is the rest of the gears run right 09:04 okay whatever man okay this thing is 09:05 like 09:06 lightning fast even without a launch 09:08 control straight up rocket ship

and then 09:10 if i'm 09:10 driving in automatic and just floor it 09:15 wow that boost it kicks in really hard 09:18 but it takes like an instant to get 09:19 there 09:19 yeah and then once that boost hits 09:21 you're getting thrown r ight in the back 09:23 seat almost 09:23 all right keep the corners three through 09:25 five let's see what this does for yuri 09:28 a little understeer until you 09:31 it's so easy and so controllable yeah i 09:33 told you we're chris harris 09:36 there we go

yeah yeah no this is like as 09:39 long as your control as long as you have 09:40 car control you can get through 09:42 exactly how you want to and now to 09:44 cliche slide corner and two-wheel drive 09:46 and i wouldn't tr y this unless they set 09:47 a world record with this car first 09:49 exactly and we do have a closed course 09:50 which is fantastic to have 09:52 and 09:56 so good eh okay i got the panic face i 09:59 got the travis to try to panic space but 10:01 that was pretty good yeah

this is very 10:03 controllable yeah no problems no spit 10:05 outs 10:05 in the damp yes back onto the road so 10:08 i'm moving on to the interior first 10:09 thing we notice is we've got the new 10:10 gauge clu ster setup 10:11 and the new huge infotainment screen 10:14 yeah so it's a 12-inch infotainment 10:16 whereas the previous one was a 10 inch 10:17 and this is a huge improvement 10:19 pun intended we have the gauge cluster 10:21 that's the new style but since it's an m 10:23 car we can

set it up so we go up and 10:25 down which still isn't the best 10:26 but like you saw before you can have 10:28 your shift lights show up when you turn 10:29 everything else off 10:30 yeah so if you press your m mode button 10:31 that's where you can change things and 10:32 we have road sport and track 10:34 track turns off your infotainment 10:36 basically keep your eyes on the road 10:38 focus on the race track okay but if we 10:40 didn't want to focus on the racetrack 10:42 and wanted the

screen 10:43 we have apple carplay wireless android 10:45 auto 10:46 wireless but the apple carplay is so 10:48 good it's gigantic it's like 10:50 the best yeah the first time i saw this 1 0:51 apple carplay i thought it was like one 10:53 of those super imposed images because it 10:54 was so high res 10:56 yeah yeah it's amazing soundlike view is 10:57 next level incredible and if we move on 10:59 to our radio we can rewind sirius xm 11:01 satellite radio we do have the new jump 11:04 back

style 11:04 so then other fun tech this does have a 11:06 360 camera the cool one that spins all 11:08 the way around we do have the backups 11:09 assist 11:10 parking assist i f you watch our old x5 11:12 video you'll see me using all the 11:14 technology to the fullest 11:15 it's all very great and then we also 11:17 have lane keep an adaptive cruise this 11:19 does have the traffic assist so you can 11:20 use this basically hands-free and 11:22 traffic and it works really well 11:23 i find

that it sways less than the 11:25 alpena did maybe because this is 11:27 smaller yeah it's hard to tell yeah but 11:29 they're all all bmw stuff is pretty good 11:3 0 it is 11:31 and then back to the wireless apple 11:32 carplay so i have a wireless charger my 11:35 iphone 12 11:36 not max will fit in there perfectly how 11:38 about your max no my pro max does not 11:40 fit in there which is kind of hilarious 11:42 to be honest yeah but i mean there's 11:43 like like mid-cycle refreshing like

they 11:45 can't expect them to like well i mean 11:46 you should but they didn't yeah 11:48 exactly and then our cup holders it will 11:50 fit a small cup medium cup i've been 11:52 driving some other cars with cup holders 11:54 behind the shifter and i definitely like 11:56 this style so much more and what about 11:58 the visors 11:59 uh i think it'll pass i don't know three 12:01 two one 12:02 oh fail bmw 12:05 and then these seats and interior color 12:07 wise love it this is a really

nice 12:09 contrast with the red 12:10 i like this saddle brown i think this is 12:12 yeah we'll call it that 12:13 it's not like it's a goo d brown i like 12:15 it a little yellow mustard yellow 12:16 and then we also have carbon fiber which 12:18 is matted out which looks really cool 12:20 and the seats overall are very 12:21 comfortable 12:21 and they do have massages it's kind of 12:23 weird having like the mustard yellow on 12:25 performance seats right 12:26 yeah but then the m5 logo also

glows 12:29 which is really freaking cool so 12:30 hey is that a is that a sticker that we 12:32 haven't peeled yet oh yes it is peel 12:34 scription break 12:38 and then the stitching all matches as 12:40 well and then we have ambient light 12:41 again but it's still those same 12:42 clue colors from before we don't have 12:44 like the full range of 128 colors or 12:47 all the crazy stuff that what's the one 12:49 you like on mercedes uh 12:50 red moon yeah yeah yeah strip club 12:54 are you

kind of disappointed though that 12:55 there's no gaps in the seats to like 12:57 stick your hands through 12:58 i m ean i'm not disappointed yeah it's 13:00 cool that it has that on the m3 and four 13:02 okay 13:02 back seat room it's actually pretty good 13:04 i wouldn't mind a little bit more 13:06 considering this is a five series it's 13:07 not bad though 13:08 and we do have peasant blockers with 13:10 this ultimate package that we have here 13:11 baby shades yeah well in here

doesn't 13:14 blockers 13:15 bro this car is expensive but we may put 13:17 a baby back there i mean you can 13:19 we're both having babies and then 13:21 there's no sunroof no because we have a 13:22 carbon fiber roof so 13:24 which is cool i'll allow it oh i'll take 13:25 the carbon fiber over the sunroof i 13:27 don't like sunroofs you know me 13:28 yeah i love them i love it and then you 13:29 know bowers and wilkins sound system is 13:31 always really good nothing really talk 13:32 about
