[Applause] I'm Jake on the area we're going for a drive [Music] 20:20 out e r8 v10 performance with launch control oh my god this is fast that's sound yeah so this is a naturally aspirated v10 5.2 litres of Lamborghini fury sort of horsepower and torque 602 horsepower 413 pound-feet of torque and you are saying this is the exact same engine from the Lamborghini yes so the Lamborghini Huracan gets this exact same engine as the base for the all-wheel drive so the peripheral monta that we drove had

more horsepower than this from the same engine and it's a lot more expensive than this car a lot more expensive okay okay that's pretty good then this is a good value and I think my favorite part of this engine is how high it revs almost 9,000 do you know what that 9000 memes from isn't it like Dragonball Z or something yeah power level I went Vegeta was checking out Goku and this thing sounds absolutely amazing I love naturally aspirated depends the crackles and pops man they did su ch a great

job with this exhaust sound and if we did get a proper launch which were not because it's winter but this thing launches pretty hard however if it was completely dry 0 to 100 km/h in three point three seconds which is silly fast because this is all-wheel-drive yes so it is all-wheel drive his Quattro so I'm sure everybody in the comments has now said oh it's Quattro season baby everybody with an Audi now they say yeah that's what they say to be honest probably not my favo rite all-wheel drive

system in the snow yeah it does understeer just like every other OD that we've driven but like you can't get it to oversteer but it's just like if you know what I thought it would be no exactly in terms of the all-wheel drive performance in terms of the actual performance this is insane like downshift downshift downshift that's so fast like what down shifts what up shifts like that nothing the automatic transmission when you're in comfort mode and you floor it the NSX and the GTR were so bad at

them yeah this is a dual-clutch 7-speed and I think this takes the cake at least for me for the fastest shifting automatic dual clutch transmission I've ever used so keep it in auto put it in comfort and let's get to a nice high gear I'm gonna go comfort but I'm gonna make the exhaust loud ready well cassette well Gary in seventh gear I'm gonna floor it that is ridiculous instantly down to second and you're flying in comfort yeah it's insane so the re is a little bit of a delay because the dual

clutches have to do stuff and then you're just gone remember in the NSX presentation they were telling us how impressed we should be with the drive mode selector it'll switch your drive modes instantly it's like yo the pedal does that here yeah it works it works perfectly so let's talk about these drive modes we have four regular modes Comfort Auto dynamic and individual and then we've got an extra special button on the steering wheel w ith a race flag on it so you hit that and you're in

performance mode so then you have snow wet or dry so we are in a snowy conditions today it is fantastic to use these modes because you have performance in those modes so it's not like drift mode in the snow it's like grip mode in the snow yeah and it drops you down one traction control so you can still have control and like move everywhere yes so this is like kind of meant for a racetrack really meant for I think everyday li fe this is definitely an everyday supercar because how long how many

racetracks are gonna be in snow yeah well you can go to Toronto Motorsports Park in the winter and that would probably be a lot of fun to drift around there and I noticed that the shifting gets crazy fast in the performance mode so like right now I'm in performance so let's just listen to this that's that's beyond lightning is that faster than the gt2 RS I think so like I said that I think this is faster than a P DK in any other Auto like listen listen to this there's no there's no delay there

start the front end okay biggest part all the grills I feel like what they did is they took late 90s Tudor culture made it 2020 and slapped it on this thing what's wrong with late 90s tuner culture you tell me how much you like it all the time yeah cuz it was weird I don't think that's like good for production stuff I think this looks really good I think it fits in line with th e rest of the Audi lineup which is also kind of my problem with it I think it should have stood out a little bit more

from the front that's I'm saying that I know our son was so cool but it still looks good okay the front grille it's gigantic it's just like the Audi tt-rs pretty much and they added these like three nostril type things right below the hood yeah they're fake grilles though so like that's kind of dumb it looks cool though does it yeah you know what else had three gril ls at the front what's that my 1983 Camaro alright then we've also got some fake girls on the sides too which I guess is cool if you

want to add a bunch of grills you seem to be mentioning fake girls a lot does that upset you it's just like why I think it looks cool with them even on the very back okay the back one at the top kind of sucks it like it was all the way across but then it's real girls on the side and then we've also got a fake vent behind the window yeah I'm not a big fan of that one see it's like too much weird stuff whatever I let's get back to the front yeah headlights headlights look great yeah they're solid

they're very aggressive typical Audi of the new generation well not the new generation the old generation because the new generation is like the lined ones like the a7 you're right so one generation back and the new rs6 Avant that I saw people are driving right now that would be fun to drive and be really fun to drive love wagons love wagons okay and we don't like about the friend of this r8 compared to the first r8 and then the first redesign there's a gap from the headlight to the grille below

it I didn't notice that no I liked how he was like solid all the way across and then we do have a little franck up there which doesn't have much room and it's got these weird little nuts on this which potentially makes it a supercar but we'll get into the supercar checklist when you drive and then side profile looks looking all ri ght looks good okay the first r8 had that cool line that went all the way up the side behind the doors this has the side blades kind of but it disconnects like it's a

floating side you're right yeah so I don't really like that as much but I think it does look good and we do have the gas cap sticking out there on the side as well well we both do agree that the first gen r8 looks the best out of any gen ra yeah so I'm not gonna argue with you there but I still think this one looks rea lly good Wow I don't even think it comes close but okay we've got really nice wheels especially for the winter because this may be a supercar as we'll find out soon what are the

Continental recommended tires for the Audi r8 the Continental Sport contact six what do you think of these big old brakes they look great red calipers which are an option to get them painted because these are a carbon ceramics back-end looks pretty aggressive I love that it's so wide yeah that's the best pa rt but I feel like they lost a bit of form in it and I think the convertible version of the 2020 looks better because of that and yes this is mid-engine so it does look good from the back

because it's widened out and you can actually open that rear glass from the driver's side and it's so cool you can see the engine behind the glass it's got the v10 badge on it and everything I like seeing it behind me in the rear view mirror I've actually adjusted it so I can see more of the eng ine yeah that's the most important part all for sure then we've got this really cool carbon fiber wing on the back which kind of looks like an aircon wing kind of yeah do you like it I do obviously

it's carbon fibre it's a wing I'm alright with wingless are aids yeah I agree there but this one does look cool and what'd you think of these tail lights it always look good they're sequential nothing too much going on yeah they're not over-the-top in any way but they look really goo d I really like the diffuser the diffuser is super aggressive I love that feeling it's a whole lane wide yeah yeah exactly and then the fattest exhaust tips may be fitted to any vehicle ever they are oval ish they

are well they are fully oval because that's the RS I know I know but they don't look they're like just a little oval yeah I guess and then they've got a cool pattern in there and then we can open up the exhaust it sounds so good and getting back to that fake grill at the back you can see the exhaust and stuff through it well that means that part isn't fake I know but they carry that on into the middle where the plate is mounted yeah and it just looks so like I feel it the put it down something

different parts of it a little bit weird I agree but because it's on this gray color I think it just kind of all works yeah I feel like this one you should I just get an all black so you can't tell anything this is the most subtle supercar you can buy is it a supercar well I guess we're gonna find out with urea in the driver's seat and we know a lot of you guys are watching without subscribing but since we last said it a lot of you guys have subscribed the more subscribers we get the more

supercar pass cup holder let's find out oh I mean it fit it fit but that's an awful couple that's a fail which is a supercar pass does it have a gimmicky steering wheel absolutely and is my favorite because of all the buttons on it supe rcar pass do you look cool getting in and out not particularly just normal yeah you look pretty normal getting in or out supercar fail do the doors go up no they don't supercar fail and lastly does it get a lot of attention no it does not especially not in this

color is this a supercar I think it's a subtle supercar and I think it has to automatically get a supercar pass because of v10 Yuri Florrick yeah this is a supercar this is a supercar the most subtle supercar you can buy alm ost tied with the NSX make it the title of our film get it up Kuro he says everything's a film yeah so since this is a supercar big shadow to OD for actually putting supercars on the road in winter shout out so before we get into the interior let's talk handling this does

have the magnetic ride suspension and I haven't driven one without it but this is fantastic like this absorbs all the bumps the damping is fantastic in dynamic mode and in comfort mode it like it just really easy kind of like the rs5 was exactly like this feels like a really good daily just like the NSX but I think I like the handling of the NSX a little more maybe cuz I had more chance to push it well we've also driven the NSX on summer tires in the summer yeah that's a big dip I'm a part of

it howdy give us a shout yes the track calls next summer does the steering feel weird it all or anything not a single weird thing about it exactly it feels so normal it turns in exactly how you want i t to it's very predictable and the steering wheel is like very light like you're not gonna get tired driving this thing around not heavy or anything even in dynamic mode it's still relatively light it's nothing like a BMW in BMW stiffest mode and you don't lose any feel in it no you don't so

remember on the rs5 sport pack I said I didn't like the damping in dynamic mode it felt bouncy yeah this doesn't feel bouncy this means that they got it right and I still think that they s crewed it up on the arms five-score back oh and one crazy stat that I'd like to share because I saw it on the website when I was researching this car 50 percent of the parts from this car are shared with the gt3 LMS race car you should added that to supercar checklist I guess they have a race car part in

it okay so now let's dig into this interior and the most noticeable thing we've got a TT RS in here oh I was gonna say that it's bread but that's not what the TT RS is all righ t we've got no infotainment screen it's built into our gauge cluster which kind of gets me thinking so did the aircon so it's the old-style outtie infotainment it's not like the new a7 and the Lamborghini earth yeah it's one generation back super easy to use once you realize you do have a rotary wheel down here at the

bottom and all your buttons I caught myself using the steering wheel buttons to control the infotainment and I just confused myself and I was like oh yes thank god this exists pretty much exactly like the Audi tt-rs but a couple more buttons on the steering wheel and we do have apple carplay android auto no we're winding Satellite Radio's but I know that's coming up in newer outtie so I'm ok with that but the r8 is not getting a refreshed generation like they said the RA it's done yeah so I

guess you need to go buy a first gen r8 then we've got three knobs right here for really easy climate control we've got heated seats we've got traction control buttons right here and parking assist buttons all that stuff we also have wireless phone charging which is really nice we only have a reverse camera it shows up in the middle of the gauge cluster we don't have a 360 camera but we have 360 radars and the image for the 360 radar is the r8 with the mid-engine showing yes you can actually see

you the engine right there which is always a reminder exactly I love it so then we do have a normal shifter but up for up down for down in a n r8 yeah well you just use the paddles however what are the paddles made at a fury blastic so as we were hoping wasn't true when we drove every other RS this does have plastic paddles and the new rs6 and stuff has metal paddles but there's not gonna be a new r8 so yeah but redeeming quality I have never shifted an automatic transmission faster than I have

with these paddles yeah it feels great there's one of those little things yeah yeah but speaking of one of those little things d o you feel kind of like this should have a newer infotainment no like don't you guys hate the idea of brand new 2020 vehicle with a solder gen infotainment I personally don't like if you got a new pixel and I had a Android KitKat or whatever those things are called that would be terrible but that's not the right analogy yeah that's kind of the same you nobody meets like

oh we're giving you a really good phone three lenses super crisp Android KitKat if that's your opinion then that's y our opinion but I can't afford these anyways yeah exactly doesn't matter and as for the rest of this interior we've got carbon fiber everywhere and the thing feels really good and it's bright frigging red yeah this isn't like the nicest red interior all the plastic matches all the materials perfectly the actual color of the red that they picked looks amazing and that the amount

they included like if they added a little more I think it'd be too much I would like it but I agree with kind of cheapen it and maybe one registro yeah yeah that's had the glovebox or something and I do really like for such an high-end sports car that there's no infotainment popping up I see what they did I see why you're more driver focused without that there I don't want to fiddle with anything I kinda just want to drive it the whole like cockpit area is all driver focus like it's all about

the driver I feel like I'm just a peasant on this side you are just a peasant but like not c ool peasant because I've been in r8 and then that's worth to your storage room really not much nothing really the Porsche 911 speedster for being a convertible had more room than this yeah but I do have a lot of headroom in this which I did not have a lot of headroom in the Huracan perform on tape but that was the spider so now the seats seats are super comfortable they're very comfortable they've got

a nice quilted pattern on them however there are no memory seats yeah that's pre tty much the worst part I guess if you want add a label supercar that other people can drive as well because it's so daily able having memory seats is a must I kind of agree as much as it's like the weirdest thing to agree on yeah this kind of needs it because it's so daily alone and here's another off-topic memory seat rant I think every memory seat setting should automatically adjust the steering wheel if it's

electric and the mirrors especially the mirrors oh absolutely there' s nothing worse than like I'm in my seat I can't see anything yeah rant over is there anything else you'd like to talk about yes one more thing okay in that Iron Man movie Tony Stark introduced the r8 to the world remember that yeah I do and he also kind of introduced the NSX as a convertible in another movie really Soto Tony Stark was about the daihlia both supercars all right yeah that makes sense I just wanted to add that in

there okay thank you so now that we've confirmed that th is is one hundred percent of supercar let's find out if this has a supercar price hit me with it the r8 starts at one hundred and eighty eight thousand four hundred dollars canadian that has 70 less horsepower than the v10 performance which we are in the v10 performance starts at two hundred and twenty thousand four hundred canadian and this one is two hundred forty thousand three hundred and eighty-five dollars that's a lot of money so

that's pretty much the same price as a new A cura NSX exactly but compared to a Lamborghini Huracan okay so if you were to get a Huracan in all-wheel drive spec it's a lot more expensive however a rear-wheel drive spec it's pretty much around this price which is probably a lot more fun but I guess people who want all-wheel drive for daily able stuff need all-wheel drive for daily bull stuff exactly so I don't think they're actually being cross shopped but I could be wrong and you were saying that

the Acura NSX is different becau se it's going to get a whole bunch more fuel economy yeah exactly so I think that technically makes it the better daily super car because of the gas mileage they're both just as fast as each other pretty much and I think I'm a little jaded because I like the first r8 so much more than this one I would have to go team NSX for a daily driving supercar for a daily driving supercar I agree but I still think I like this car more just because that v10 5.2 liter

naturally aspirated gem right behind my head maybe if this was a convertible Yuriy floor for me it's hard to argue with that no it is really hard to argue then I think I'd be even harder if it was convertible I would love to try that I think that could sway me from Team NSX let us know what you guys think in the comments do you have an NSX or an r8 which one did you pick and why and if you didn't which one would you pick so for those three people who actually can answer that question don't
