00:01 [Applause] 00:05 I'm hearing a Jakob Fugger trip 00:14 [Music] 00:28 2019 AMG winter sporting this is the 00:32 best we are drifting Angie's on a frozen 00:35 lake in Gimli Manitoba 00:45 [Music] 00:49 do they only do this in two places Gimli 00:52 Manitoba and Sweden yeah 00:54 so they actually open this one in Canada 00:56 a little bit central for everybody yeah 00:58 it's a lot easier to get you for y'all 00:59 Americans yeah yeah exactly 01:00 oh yes I feel like the drift King

right 01:03 now URI so there's three levels of this 01:04 from driving experience and we're on the 01:06 pro one right now so it's multiple days 01:07 but we're only here for one so we're 01:09 gonna try to get in as much as possible 01:10 yeah so it starts at about forty five 01:12 hundred dollars and goes all the way up 01:13 to just under nine thousand dollars 01:15 depending on how many days you want to 01:16 go for Canadian yes so we will be 01:19 driving east sixty three asses

which 01:20 we're driving right now unfortunately 01:22 not wagons six hundred horsepower though 01:24 cla45 AMG S which are three hundred and 01:27 seventy-five horsepower they're 01:28 all-wheel drive the front bias spoiler 01:30 alert 01:31 some of the trickiest cars here yeah 01:33 actually though and then we've got c63 01:35 s's which are rear-wheel drive with 01:37 about 500 horsepower and those are the 01:39 trickiest but pretty much everything 01:41 here is non-st op fun and the best

part 01:43 about this program you're not really 01:44 learning at the pro level you're pretty 01:46 much just here to enjoy yourself from 01:48 multiple days oh you're definitely 01:49 learning I've learned a lot since I've 01:51 been here for about one day but compared 01:53 to like a different driving experience 01:55 you don't do a slalom you don't learn 01:57 how to do one turn you pretty much get 01:59 on the track right away and start 02:00 driving we st arted at night yeah they 02:01 teach

you theory though which is good 02:03 because you basically need to know car 02:05 control to be able to do all this stuff 02:06 and we kind of already know that so we 02:08 did night on the first night when we 02:09 rolled in which was pretty intimidating 02:11 yeah it was but it was so much fun still 02:13 we both crashed on one of our first laps 02:15 yes we did 02:16 I had to get towed out so I got a little 02:17 stamp cut out of my AMG yeah th ing I 02:20 still didn't get towed out so I

don't 02:21 have any stamps yet this means I'm a 02:23 failure it's okay I'll probably have 02:25 them by the end of the day no this is so 02:27 fun dude I've almost linked most of 02:28 these corners so far so right now we are 02:30 in the e63 s and we're ripping around 02:33 we're learning to do break initiations 02:35 this is mostly a rear bias all-wheel 02:36 drive system yeah I feel were the most 02:38 comfortable in this car just because I 02:40 understand exactly what it's going to

do 02:42 at most part see there's brake 02:43 initiation a little bit of understeer 02:44 off the brakes and then the back comes 02:46 around and 02:47 correctly with a little bit of power and 02:49 there you go and then we've got the 02:51 drone out we've got the 360 camera out 02:53 so if you see some whacky camera angles 02:54 yeah we got welcome we got some slow-mo 02:56 out as well but I really like that 360 02:59 camer a guys let us know what you guys 03:00 think in the comments should we

use it 03:02 more or should we just do more drifting 03:04 this is the best like I love this these 03:07 are heavy cars and you really notice it 03:09 in the e63 as compared to all the other 03:10 cars so this is a 4matic plus which is 03:13 like Yuri said a rear biased Oh nailed 03:15 it nailed it dude 03:18 dude both hands on the wheel yes yes 03:21 sorry look at that break initiation look 03:26 where you want to go I want to go right 03:28 there that's where I'm looking that's 03:29 where I'm

looking 03:30 so these AMG's have gnarly gnarly front 03:33 bumper so when you get into the snow you 03:35 don't ruin the car and they plow them 03:37 extra white here and they taper the 03:38 sides so when you hit a wall or a bank 03:41 you don't get stuck stuck you kind of 03:43 get stuck you might need to get towed 03:44 out yeah that's fine they have a tree 03:45 wagon for that but it's more chill than 03:47 the sweden course apparently yes 03:49 I love these 63s I understand

the 03:52 balance of this car so well you know I 03:54 really want one of these in a wagon 03:55 right yeah yeah I found that this one's 03:57 a little trickier to figure out then the 04:00 CLA I feel way more comfortable in that 04:01 powering through but this one is very 04:03 fun and it's a lot easier than this c63 04:06 s 04:07 yes it is okay if you have the money to 04:10 do one of th ese courses just do it 04:11 yeah if you find one room save up a 04:13 little bit extra and make sure you

do 04:15 this yeah you can talk to your 04:17 dealership you can go to the website not 04:19 that we're selling this but it is 04:21 amazing to do and they actually do learn 04:22 a lot and you can just be a goon like a 04:24 legal goon you can't do this anywhere 04:26 else and the cool thing is a lot of the 04:27 other guys and girls on this trip are 04:28 just like random cus tomers who love 04:30 driving have sports cars do racing and 04:32 want to do the ice experience yeah you 04:34 don't

actually have to own an AMG to be 04:36 able to do this course now we're going 04:37 to do a Gymkhana challenge where we go 04:39 through cones drift around go through a 04:40 box and all that stuff see who's faster 04:42 what he said 04:49 [Music] 05:07 Gymkhana is so much fun 05:12 we just went on one second power through 05:16 a trust 05:28 here outside here's a figure 8 05:39 yeah 05:48 okay now I got to go through this 05:52 okay right through 06:03 a little bit too much time in

there 06:11 huh all right let's see how I did that 06:14 was so much fun 06:15 wow that is hard all right I didn't say 06:17 much but whatever it's hard to 06:18 concentrate your ease driving the cla45 06:21 AMG fully sideways which I said was the 06:24 most fun and it is yeah so the 06:27 difference with this car is that its 06:28 front biased all-wheel drive so the 06:30 front wheels end up pulling you through 06:32 the corners and you get maximum drift 06:34 angle in this car versus all the

other 06:36 cars so this is the only four-cylinder 06:38 of the bunch the rest are v8s yeah do 06:40 you mind it at all honestly here not at 06:42 all like not at all so let's talk about 06:44 the studded tires we got out here ok so 06:46 they are up to 400 studs per tire which 06:49 is so many studs we've actually had some 06:51 experience o n studded tires before and 06:53 they're about a hundred to 200 studs 06:55 retire at the Porsche ice driving 06:57 experience and at our continental

event 06:59 to watch that video yes that tires are 07:01 the best and here's the thing we're 07:02 actually on a frozen lake you forget 07:04 until you get a close-up yeah and it's 07:05 also kind of funny seeing the GPS units 07:07 manufactured in the middle of a lake so 07:09 the lake thickness is about a hundred 07:11 and thirt y-five centimeters because you 07:12 can actually land a full jumbo jet on 07:15 here like a 737 or something oh by the 07:17 way give me was the town where some

guy 07:19 landed a jet that had no fuel on a 07:21 runway that was being used by guys drag 07:22 race oh you have a Gimli glider we 07:24 actually did a simulation and we both 07:25 landed it now let's talk about the looks 07:27 the front bumper its carbon Kevlar yeah 07:31 so it's a full front bumper with a skid 07:33 plate underneath it and it's so strong 07:35 so you can actually smash some snow 07:37 banks not that you should but you can 07:38 just in case they look so bad as I

would 07:41 love to see these unlike the normal 07:42 roads but then I guess it's probably not 07:43 like pedestrian safe yeah probably no no 07:45 you probably like break some ankles with 07:47 these 07:48 you look out you see a bunch of AMD's 07:50 drifting it's like the coolest 07:51 atmosphere ever it i s it's hilarities 07:53 you see them in the background 07:54 everywhere you see the ice huts like 07:55 it's such an experience here some more 07:57 driving things I want to mention

if 07:59 you're not the most experienced you 08:01 don't have the word because you don't 08:02 actually have to use the paddles we've 08:03 had these an auto the whole time and 08:05 they've been fantastic 08:07 yeah and normally we're goons on the 08:08 street like straight into race mode no 08 :10 we've actually dialed it back to Sport 08:12 and Sport Plus because the throttles a 08:14 little bit too touchy and race mode and 08:16 we're comfort suspension because you 08:17 want all that

momentum exactly but we 08:19 are still goons with loud exhaust mode 08:20 because you know straight 08:24 and you have to use your brakes so much 08:27 more than I thought this whole of course 08:29 is pretty much using brakes to get the 08:32 turn started and then cash your way 08: 33 through what the most fun part about the 08:35 driving the CLA is that it's just pure 08:37 throttle like once you have it in a 08:38 drift it's just pure throttle maximum 08:40 oversteer angle like this exactly

like 08:43 this there's the timer 08:50 so we're driving on several different 08:53 tracks today and they're actually 08:54 modeled after real race tracks around 08:56 the world so there's the MA there's 08:58 Watkins Glen 08:59 and there's Interlagos it is so cool oh 09: 01 and there's also a final my favourite 09:03 one which we haven't actually done yet 09:05 the white hell where they combine 09:06 everything and make it like a white 09:08 Nurburgring cause it's all snow oh my 09:10 god this

is it 09:13 too much confidence okay I can't afford 09:20 another staff in my card yeah and let's 09:22 cut this up 09:23 cool 360 VR camera and then we'll be in 09:25 the c63 s next and now in the 500 09:31 horsepower rear-wheel drive c63 s so 09:35 this is t he last event of our day we're 09:36 not on the full program right now we're 09:38 just doing a one-day thing so we're 09:39 gonna try to get the most right now and 09:40 really send this thing right out this is 09:42 the best rear-wheel

drive is best wheel 09:45 drive but it's also hardest wheel drive 09:47 to actually master but it feels so easy 09:49 with the studded tires it does sure wish 09:52 we had some Continentals though this is 09:55 so good once you get it so we're 09:5 7 learning how to do big circles and small 10:00 circles with the rear wheel drive it's a 10:02 lot of fun cuz it's like a real weight 10:04 balanced dance yeah exactly it's really 10:06 hard to get but once you do get it it's 10:07 so fun and they

teach you brake 10:09 initiation to start it so that you don't 10:11 throw out too much you got nothing left 10:12 and they're always right about this 10:13 brake thing that's the biggest thing I 10:15 learned from this whole trip use b rakes 10:17 to start drifts keep just going anything 10:20 to do with drifting it's mostly braking 10:22 I think and followed by looking where 10:23 you want to go not where you want to end 10:26 up which is not in a ditch so you got to 10:28 look farther ahead

down the road and 10:29 then usually enough they're just like I 10:32 did right there around this cone and I'm 10:34 looking down there and no problems let's 10:37 talk about traction really quickly 10:38 okay so Mercedes ac tually flies an 10:40 engineer out from Germany to disable 10:42 traction control so that I can do this 10:44 donut which I accidentally just did or 10:46 keeping that and recovering from that 10:48 spin so they fly a guy in to hack the 10:50 traction control and all he does

is make 10:53 sure that the ESP doesn't react when 10:56 you're on the brakes because by law when 10:58 you hit the brakes ESP has to turn off 11:00 even if traction control is all the way 11:01 off in a car so i t still doesn't solve 11:03 the problem with that AMG traction 11:06 control that we don't like on normal 11:07 roads that's true we'll work on that but 11:10 for now this is all right well we have 11:11 full traction off and it is perfect out 11:13 here yes you can also do it with

ESP 11:15 support but I wouldn't recommend it 11:16 because I haven't tried it and I don't 11:17 want to what if you're new to this you 11:19 should probably do that but if you're 11:20 not new to dri fting or 11:21 definitely keep it off so to sum up the 11:25 day Yuri which one did you like the most 11:27 - the c63 s the e63 s or the CLA the e63 11:31 s was my least favorite and the c63 s in 11:34 the CLA were tied for my favourite I 11:36 think I have just made the c63 s my 11:38 favorite

because it's the most 11:39 challenging and I like to be challenged 11:41 I like to learn new stuff I like to 11:42 screw up but I also like to learn why I 11:44 screwed up and that's why I like the c63 11:46 s the most but the CLA you got to go so 11:48 much faster there's a little bit cheater 11:49 mode but it's like so much fun so easily 11:53 the CLA is easily the most fun 11:55 no arguments for me there but I just 11:57 like this one the most because drifty 11:59 drift and challenge yeah I

feel like 12:01 I've betrayed the e63 s but it's not a 12:03 wagon so I love that it's 63 s - oh and 12:06 we should probably mention that when you 12:07 do sign up for this ev erything is 12:08 included except your flight so they 12:10 actually put you up in a nice hotel and 12:12 include all the dinners and stuff - so 12:14 yeah just another reminder this is the 12:16 place to go for Americans North 12:18 Americans Canadians Mexicans a lot 12:21 closer than Sweden yeah I mean

European 12:23 people can still come here they're very 12:24 welcome but just a little bit closer for 12:26 North American we do have some people 12:28 here right n ow who did the Swedish 12:29 program and now they're doing this 12:30 program too so let's end the day off 12:32 this is the best day I've had driving so 12:35 comparing this to that other driving 12:36 program we did that other one felt like 12:38 it was more learning step by step and 12:40 this was more of a just drive around

all 12:43 day lots of linking it up and they teach 12:45 you along the way 12:48 per century this guy these six 12:52 I saw 96 there Wow your constructo r 12:56 right yes you can talk while drifting I 12:59 can go commies so for me I prefer this 13:05 one and since it's like such a long 13:07 experience I think there's just more 13:08 driving time more seat time I enjoyed 13:10 this more yeah I just like how much 13:12 sideways action you get and it's just 13:14 non-stop like there's so much

drive time 13:17 in this program like that's the biggest 13:18 thing that I notice is like yeah back in 13:20 the car five minute break back in the 13:22 car it's amazing but the most important 13:24 thing is if you get a chance to do any 13:25 winter driving program do that winter 13:28 driving program because they're all the 13:29 best they're all the most fun sliding 13:31 cars is the best thing you can possibly 13:33 do yeah and doing it in parking lots is 13:35 not the same we've done that
