00:00 [Music] 00:09 I'm Jacob area with Goldberg Drive 00:14 [Music] 00:23 20-24 Mustang Shelby gt500 oh my god as 00:29 you can probably tell we're in the 00:31 canyons in California ford invited us 00:33 out for the launch of the maquis the new 00:36 electric Mustang and then they sprinkled 00:38 in some gt500 for us which we really 00:40 appreciate because this is the highest 00:43 horsepower yes it is it is the most 00:46 power dense engine in the world so what 00:48 that means is it's a 5.2

liter and they 00:51 got the most horsepower out of it with a 00:53 supercharger slapped on top horsepower 00:55 and torque 760 horsepower 625 pound-feet 00:59 of torque from a hand-built 5.2 liter v8 01:03 with a supercharger on top and by the 01:05 way that supercharger is 2.6 five liters 01:09 that displacement is more than most 01:12 four-cylinder engines and this only 01:14 comes in an automatic transmission yeah 01:17 so this is a 7-speed dual-clutch you 01:19 cannot get this i n manual you

have to 01:21 get the GT 350 or the GTS we've got the 01:23 are yeah those only come in manual which 01:25 is pretty bold I like you and I feel 01:27 like what we really need to find out 01:29 today is if we like the gt500 more than 01:32 the Hellcat red.i which also only came 01:34 in automatic that's right so we've 01:36 driven the regular Hellcat wide-body 01:37 manual and we've driven the red eye 01:39 which again only comes in automatic and 01:41 another car that we haven't

actually 01:42 driven yet the new c8 Corvette it'll 01:44 actually be interesting to see how this 01:46 competes with that because of the price 01:48 you're gonna down shift it said oh my 01:51 god this sword this is ridiculous 01:55 okay so since we're in the canyons let's 01:57 talk handling this thing handles better 02:00 than any other Mustang I've ever driven 02:02 yeah this thing is like on Rails but 02:05 it's rear-wheel drive and I feel like 02:07 it's gonna spin out but it kind of

just 02:09 doesn't it feels totally different than 02:11 like a Hellcat to me because a Hellcat 02:13 every time I floor it I'm expecting to 02:15 spin out so I'm bracing myself mentally 02:18 that I'm gonna have to correct this 02:19 hearing this it just puts the power down 02:21 which is totally different in my head 02:23 but I did read I competitor I think 02:25 spinning out yes the biggest difference 02:28 right off the bat that I've noticed is 02:29 this actually let's go 760

horsepower 02:32 which is a miracle 02:33 I don't know how Ford did it but they 02:35 did it so let's talk about driving modes 02:36 there are a bunch of them so we hit our 02:38 mode button we got Sport Trac drag strip 02:41 slippery normal and my mode and totally 02:44 different from the regular Mustangs we 02:45 can actually control our suspension and 02:47 our steering from the steering wheel 02:48 which is really cool yeah we got t wo 02:50 extra buttons there yeah which I 02:51 absolutely

love so the thing that I 02:53 noticed is the suspension modes change 02:55 depending on what mode you're in so you 02:57 can't actually the track mode in normal 03:00 mode you have to go to track mode to get 03:01 track suspension and what kind of 03:03 damping do they use in this these are a 03:04 Magna ride so there is actually a really 03:06 big difference between track mode normal 03:08 mode and sport and even the drags trip 03:10 mode yeah we haven't actually tested 03:11 drag strip mode

but apparently what it 03:13 does is it softens up the back so that 03:15 you can't squat it with the power down 03:17 and it is pretty comfortable if you're 03:19 driving in like the chillest of modes oh 03:20 absolutely 03:21 this is still a Mustang at the end of 03:23 the day it's still a big muscle car 03:24 sports car well this is the most sports 03:26 car version of the Mustang yeah because 03:28 I guess th ey even have EcoBoost versions 03:30 and everything and now like with

an 03:31 electric one coming out it's kind of a 03:33 whole different thing than what it used 03:34 to be exactly but the best part about 03:37 this one 03:37 other than the horsepower is the exhaust 03:39 sound so we have several different 03:41 exhaust sound modes so we have an 03:42 exhaust sound button so I have 03:44 exclusively driven in track mode because 03:46 it's absolutely incredible but le t's 03:49 play a clip of quiet mode to track mode 03:52 [Music] 03:56 and the thing about this

just like the 03:59 hellcat red eye there is some droning 04:01 and it does hurt my sensitive ears so I 04:03 usually have to wear earplugs while 04:05 driving this however if you drove it in 04:07 quiet mode you'd be alright I'd be 04:09 alright but it's like that little bit of 04:10 droning here and there I don't want to 04:12 risk it but the other thing that I 04:13 noticed is in here a nd outside there's 04:16 no supercharger sound yeah and I think 04:17 that's where the redeye kind of has

the 04:19 advantage because like this has a huge 04:22 supercharger just make it go way but I 04:24 guess Ford's image is exhaust more than 04:27 supercharger whine yeah exactly so I 04:29 mean in the aftermarket you can solve 04:30 that put a big intake on it and you'll 04:32 solve that problem right away head back 04:33 to that engine so it is a 5.2 liter just 04:36 like the GT 350 but the gt350 is a flat 04:39 plate crane 04:40 so what actually revs higher it sounds 04:42 totally different

this is a cross plane 04:44 crank so I think I actually like the 04:46 gt350 sound better just because it's a 04:48 little bit more exotic but this has its 04:50 own unique violent sound and I 04:52 absolutely love this as well well this 04:53 is the track weapon version which is 04:55 kind of cliched to say but it kind of is 04:57 since it only comes on automatic a nd 04:58 then the gt350 is more of the enthusiast 05:01 because it only comes in manual so I 05:03 guess that's where the big

distinction 05:05 is exactly and you guys may have noticed 05:07 that I'm not exactly ripping it just 05:08 because we're from the canyon so I don't 05:10 want to die out here but for being a 05:12 cross plane crank this actually revs 05:14 pretty high so it revs to 7500 rpm 05:18 like God you know good thing this has 05:21 nice big breaks - yeah the bre aks are 05:23 solid and what else do we have carbon 05:25 fiber wheels yes so this has the carbon 05:28 fiber package which is very

expensive 05:30 you get a whole bunch of carbon fiber 05:31 stuff we can talk about in the looks but 05:33 it really helps to go faster we'll get 05:34 to the look soon but a little bit more 05:36 handling again because we're on the 05:37 canyons this thing is very flat for 05:39 being such a big car and it's still 05:41 really comfortable es pecially if you put 05:43 it in normal mode or even sport trac is 05:45 a little bit too stiff for the canyons 05:46 but steering wise it is kind of

light 05:49 yeah the steering feel is definitely 05:50 lighter than I would have liked it even 05:52 in sport mode I kind of want to put more 05:54 effort into it because it's such a heavy 05:56 duty car yeah I totally agree and then 05:58 the other thing is 7-speed dual-clutch 06:00 how fast is the shift so fast like 06:03 ridicu lously fast what I like a manual 06:05 in this absolutely but this is a very 06:07 good automatic yeah as it is a dual I'm 06:10 alright with stopping manuals at

a 06:12 certain amount of horsepower as I look 06:14 we're trying to set a record with this 06:15 one and for fast you want to have fun 06:17 get this other one which is also very 06:19 fast I also totally agree but the 06:21 craziest thing that Chevy has ever done 06:23 is put a manual into the center of one 06:25 of the last generation that was pretty 06:26 wild yeah I guess somebody's gotta go 06:28 above and beyond 06:29 pretty much 06:30 that and all manual transmissions and 06:31 Corvettes

alright so I think it's time 06:34 to get you into the driver's seat but 06:35 first we know a lot of you guys are 06:37 watching without subscribing do us a 06:38 favor 06:39 hit the subscribe button so I can do a 06:40 part out 06:46 sand ants and 06:55 so if you did fully hook up it would 06:58 have been in three point three seconds 06:59 to 60 miles per hour this thing is 07:01 really fast but I feel like it's not 07:03 super car fast which I understand it's 07:05 not a supercar it's not

supercar price 07:07 either I expected a little closer I like 07:11 it the McLaren feeling this is still 07:12 silly fast but I know you're saying it's 07:14 then three seconds if it was like three 07:17 seconds flat it would feel like a super 07:20 bummer but I guess the challenger 07:21 hellca t red I felt a little better to me 07:22 when I was ripping it but I think that's 07:24 because I knew it was gonna slip if it 07:26 hooked up it would probably feel exactly 07:27 the same probably but it

pretty much 07:29 never hooked up got a chance so starting 07:32 with the looks I guess the big question 07:33 is do you like the box of the 500 more 07:36 then the 350 I don't this is way more 07:39 aggressive and crazy looking but 07:40 personally I like the 350 more that's 07:43 t he sweet spot I totally agree but 07:44 starting with the front end they had to 07:46 add way more intake because it needs so 07:48 much more air yeah so it's got 50% more 07:50 air intake openings and the GT 350

now 07:53 when I first got launched I thought it 07:54 looked kind of weird like the way it 07:56 came down just like a big stupid opening 07:58 or something but the more I looked into 08:00 older GT 500s there's a couple where it 08:03 looks exactly like it so I think it is 08:05 kind of a good throwback as well and 08:07 it's just a really aggressive front end 08:09 and I love that Cobra badge right in the 08:10 front yeah it's cool because it is a 08:13 Mustang but there's like no

Mustang 08:14 badges did and if Cobra is like one of 08:17 the coolest badges in the car game yeah 08:19 definitely snake related cars are super 08:21 cool like we got the Viper 08:22 we got the Cobra I don't know what else 08:24 there is but we've got a buddy with a 08:26 Cobra we call him Cobra Phil's in high 08:28 school he was thinking of getting a 08:29 Viper that's such an easy way to get the 08:32 new nickname yeah the Viper Phil yeah 08:34 let's still snakes feel snake feel but 08:37 the

front has a lot of fans and intakes 08:39 everywhere it's so sharp and a kind of 08:41 angles out towards the ground yeah and 08:43 then we have that lip spoiler at the 08:44 front that says Shelby we got the little 08:46 gt500 embossed in the fron t grille and 08:49 that's pretty much it on the front that 08:50 says she'll be more GT by one and I 08:52 think that's like everywhere in the car 08:53 besides this little black on the 08:54 interior yeah that's right the 08:56 headlights are normal

Ford Mustang 08:57 headlights we've got a nice like mesh 08:59 grille which I really like and then 09:01 we've got a pretty crazy looking wood 09:03 but the massive huge factor affecting at 09:06 the top and to open the hood you 09:08 a ctually have a normal wood latch inside 09:09 but then you have wood pins that you 09:11 actually have to press in it's 09:12 definitely one of the coolest things 09:13 about this car because racecar gimmicks 09:15 are always the best and when you open 09:17 that

hood what do you get you have the 09:18 hand-built sign plaque for whoever build 09:21 this engine and then that hood vent up 09:23 at the top I actually noticed that it 09:25 says you're supposed to remove that for 09:27 th e track but keep it in for the road so 09:29 you ain't extra heat dissipation on the 09:30 track which is really cool and I love 09:32 how easy and clear the sticker is to 09:34 understand yeah yeah race track out Road 09:36 check mark and then as an overall look 09:39 what

do you think of this paint color 09:40 well the pink color is great I like the 09:42 green more but this is a cool orange 09:44 yeah this orange is really nice I do 09:46 like the green more as well and you said 09:48 something to me about the racing stripes 09:50 I like Shelby racing stripes now but I 09:52 think it's because I needed to drive one 09:54 first a real Shelby not a Shelby truck 09:57 yeah it's a really good oh yeah I'm one 09:59 of the straight guys I go fast and this 10:01 is one

of the few cars that if I had to 10:03 own I would potentially get it in blue 10:05 with the white straight so really the 10:07 classic Shelby I know let's get behind 10:09 the wheel everything change s and this 10:11 one has a really expensive carbon 10:13 track package on it so we actually have 10:15 carbon fiber wheels 10:17 yeah and that's like the craziest part I 10:19 don't think we've driven a car with 10:20 carbon fiber wheels yet yeah we have it 10:22 I'm sure the wheels are much lighter

and 10:24 there's probably a noticeable difference 10:25 between this and the regular wheels but 10:27 we haven't been able to directly compare 10:29 the performance difference but they lo ok 10:30 so bad yeah you tell people you got 10:32 carbon fiber wheels and you look at them 10:34 like the weave and everything amazing 10:36 and then you can see those big Brembo 10:37 brakes which always look awesome yes 10:39 they're actually better than the ones 10:40 that are on the gt350 10:42 and then

what would be the concept 10:43 recommended the extreme contact DWS oh 10:50 six and if you happen to be driving in 10:52 the winter the Viking contact sevens 10:53 highly reco mmend drivers in the winter 10:55 so side view it's pretty much a normal 10:58 Mustang except we have some crazy little 11:00 additions like a skirt package with like 11:02 an extra thing from the track package I 11:04 I like it the more extra stuff that's 11:06 functional I think it's better yeah like 11:08 this looks

like a race car because this 11:10 was purpose-built to just be a race car 11:11 anything that was purpose-built for 11:13 these canyons it a little too narrow 11:1 5 here it's a big car and placing it 11:17 everywhere seems to be totally fine but 11:19 yeah I mean the canyons are kind of 11:21 built more for like a Miata 11:23 yeah I prefer me out of here yeah and 11:26 other than that on the side you can see 11:28 the gigantic carbon fiber wing straight 11:30 from the GT for Mustang race car

and 11:32 that's one of the options that comes 11:33 with the carbon fiber package or else 11:35 you get a different spoiler which also 11:36 looks pret ty cool yeah that one kind of 11:38 looks better but this is the one you 11:39 want and moving around to the back big 11:42 fat exhaust tips totally real for one 11:46 the exhaust tip game and they also lost 11:48 it with with the Explorer ST and the 11:51 Lincoln aviator and those ones with the 11:52 exhaust tips that we're at the head

to 11:54 the bottom so it doesn't make the tips 11:55 dirty so Ford has the best tips in the 11:57 game and also the worst tips in the game 11:58 congratulations 11:59 then we got some triangles and stuff 12:01 going on back there yeah overall I mean 12:03 it's still a Mustang with a lot of cool 12:05 stuff so it's not like that crazy yeah 12:06 but it's definitely the craziest one oh 12:08 yeah this is so aggressive looking 12:13 so looks-wise this are the dodge 12:15 challenger hellcat red-eye

I really like 12:17 the wide-body Hellcats like I really 12:20 like they they edged out this just by a 12:22 little bit but I th ink this is a very 12:24 cool Oh second yeah this looks for race 12:26 car so if you want it to look more race 12:28 car you go for this one if you will just 12:30 want to look kind of like a badass I 12:32 would just go with the Hellcat red eye 12:33 yeah like especially the headlights on 12:35 the hill around there yeah I want to see 12:39 I want to see Dave from Ford

and Ralph 12:41 shields from FCA yeah go ahead it with 12:44 the red eye against the Shelby gt500 and 12:47 they can decide who wins that battle 12:49 yeah show no damp air sac from Florida 12:51 we met him that guy is an absolute 12:52 legend he told us the coolest stories 12:54 speaking of one of the stories he told 12:56 us was about line lock so yes this does 12:58 have line lock to enable you to do 13:00 burnouts and he was the reason that that 13:02 actually got implemented into

mustangs 13:04 so thank you very much and a lot of 13:06 other stuff that would none of us know 13:07 ab out yeah exactly that's the one thing 13:10 we were able to get out of them and I 13:12 guess I'll chime in quickly about 13:13 handling and everything this just feels 13:15 perfect through yes yes so we have a 13:17 Taurus it is knee in the back and that 13:19 just helps you put power down through 13:20 all these corners I know 13:22 confidence-inspiring is a very easy way 13:24 out of

describing this but it really is 13:26 before we move on to the interior I want 13:28 to tal k about some pop culture stuff 13:30 with the gt500 so we all pretty much 13:32 learned to love it from gone in 60 13:34 seconds Nicolas Cage and a little ledge 13:36 ride yeah that was my dream car for the 13:38 longest time he'll adore I thought it 13:40 was super cool I never thought it was as 13:41 cool as they made it out to be but 13:43 apparently that wasn't even a real gt500 13:45 like no they

made Eleanore for the movie 13:48 which is like actually pretty cool in 13:50 it self yeah and then they also had a 13:52 nice Shelby gt500 in Need for Speed yes 13:56 super wide body I love that one I think 13:59 that's my new favorite because I think 14:01 this one would be so much cooler 14:03 the more wide cuz that's like a no-rules 14:05 car it's like if we could just like not 14:07 have to deal with anything what would it 14:08 look like yeah that looks amazing I 14:10 think if they just

made this a little 14:11 bit wider kind of took like the hellcat 14: 13 redeye wide-body stuff and added into 14:15 this I think that'll look pretty cool 14:16 and as we're ripping through these 14:18 canyons we have actually had to stop for 14:20 gas because this has such a small tank 14:22 and it gets terrible fuel economy which 14:24 we never complain about because it is a 14:25 gt500 but the tank is so small that we 14:28 had to stop ya which like I wish the 14:31 tank was bigger I don't mind

the fuel 14:33 economy yeah exactly it's not the fuel 14 :34 economy that's the problem is the tank 14:36 that's too small oh and when they 14:38 brought back a night rider they tried to 14:39 make that the Shelby from the two 14:41 thousands as well yeah I actually 14:42 remember watching that you know I have 14:44 no cares for that at all I'm not 14:45 attached to it in any way no me neither 14:46 so let's talk about this interior first 14:49 thing I see carbon fiber on the dash and 14:51 I

absolutely love that this is the first 14:52 one we've driven that doesn't have the 14:54 grinded steel look yeah exactly and is 14:56 also the first Mustang we've driven 14:58 that's automatic yes it is and it's 15:00 probably the best one to drive that's 15:01 automatic [ __ ] yeah and I give every 15:04 month a transmission that was auto was 15:05 this good I would be happy but I'm not 15:07 sure they are so let's talk about those 15:09 panels they feel great and they shift so 15:11 quickly

yes they're nice big metal 15:14 paddles probably top of the game for 15:16 American muscle cars yeah I'd say that 15:18 definitely better than the Corvette even 15:20 though the Corvette had yellow ones and 15:21 then we also have a dinky little shifter 15:24 thing which is also on the Ford GT 15:28 yeah that's kind of lame like the dodge 15:31 challenger hellcat red eyes got a real 15:33 shifter which is definitely a lot cooler 15:34 but this gets out of the way it's fine 15:36 and everything

up front with the ga uges 15:38 and the dash is all the same as every 15:40 other Mustang except all the Ford 15:42 Mustang logos are now cobras and we have 15:44 a Cobra button on the steering wheel 15:46 instead of a Mustang button which is 15:47 pretty gangster well you know what we 15:50 don't know if this will pass the visor 15:51 test 15:51 yeah we don't three two one 15:55 yes full pass a chopping board and a 15:57 couple other tests we don't have a 15:58 coffee it's a bottle of water I

think it 16:01 would pass with a small coffee and this 16:02 is still not a hatchback but there is a 16:05 hatchback electric Mustang with four 16:07 doors that just came out some wheel box 16:09 test that when we get the chance yes the 16:11 maquis which we'll talk about a little 16:12 bit later 16:12 these Recaro seats are so comfortable 16:15 and so well bolstered yeah no issues 16:17 with them at all they are super 16:18 comfortable they look cool too and 16:20 they've got a car and on the
side and 16:21 we've got some matching stitching and 16:23 patterns on the armrest area and you may 16:25 have noticed by now we don't have any 16:27 rear seats because this is the track 16:28 package yes it gets deleted with the 16:30 track package and they even like put a 16:32 little sticker there to tell you not to 16:33 try to sit there so Jacob hop in the 16:35 back how's the room oh it's absolutely 16:37 terrible so we've had the same old age 16:40 clusters all the other mustangs whic h

I 16:41 love to customize with different colors 16:43 and I love the track mode version the 16:44 most because the RPMs go left to right 16:46 it's super easy to see and for the 16:48 infotainment it's a slightly updated one 16:50 more similar to the Lincoln aviator that 16:51 we recently drove so it does have apple 16:53 carplay it does have android auto and it 16:56 does have rewinding silent radio 16:57 stations but no tuned mix there you go 17:00 so 17:01 we get to the price let's quickly

dig 17:03 into the Ford Mustang electric four-door 17:06 SUV which sounds like a bald tires 17:08 article so it's called the maquis which 17:10 is weird to say it sounds like machi 17:12 like I don't know anyways it's a cool 17:14 name but it's associated with Mustang 17:16 which is kind of weird but a lot of the 17:18 people that worked on the gt500 actually 17:20 worked on the maquis so they got all the 17:22 people in the company that were excited 17:24 about Musta ng to work on the

maquis 17:25 which is pretty cool and they showed us 17:27 the pre presentation like three days 17:29 before the actual launch of it which we 17:31 still haven't been to yet we're gonna 17:32 show you some footage from it I think 17:34 they did that because you need to take 17:36 it in I just like to talk it out with 17:38 the other journalists get all the anger 17:40 out and then accept it because it makes 17:41 sense from a company standpoint yeah 17:43 it's a weird thing and I still

haven't 17:45 fully absorbed it you got to think of it 17:47 like this the f-type is a really cool 17:48 Jaguar right the F pace is an SUV 17:51 version that looks exactly the same are 17:53 you mad at the F pace no exactly so you 17:55 just need to not be mad over them 17:57 electric Mustang SUV so hit me with the 17:59 price of this 20:24 Mustang Shelby gt500 18:03 since we're in America this starts at 18:05 seventy thousand three hundred dol lars 18:07 u.s. starting at ninety four

thousand 18:09 six hundred and seventy five dollars 18:11 Canadian Canadian 18:14 total price for this particular one that 18:15 we're driving is ninety one thousand 18:17 seven hundred ninety five dollars 18:18 OS I totally get it it's a lot of money 18:22 but I also totally get it 18:23 it's got a higher horsepower number than 18:25 the four GT yeah it's the most powerful 18:27 car they've ever built 18:28 horsepower wise and that 's totally 18:30 awesome because like that doesn't

happen 18:32 all the time no exactly and it's cool 18:34 that it actually splits the difference 18:35 between the Hellcat and the Hellcat red 18:37 eye it's right in the middle so after 18:39 driving this are you kind of interested 18:41 in getting on older gt500 yeah I've 18:43 actually been researching them up ahead 18:45 of this trip because I kinda want like 18:47 2005-2009 calibration gt500 would be 18:50 cool but j ust a regular TV alright I got 18:52 a floor one more time real quick
